He graduated with a degree in Computer Science from Nangarhar University in Afghanistan. In 2017, shortly after completing his studies, he started working with Médecins Sans Frontières on a humanitarian mission in Afghanistan as an Information Technology Specialist. After four years, he joined the Shared IT Services team as a Service Desk operator. However, due to visa issues, he had to work remotely from his home country for two more years. In 2023, he was promoted to a Team Lead position, which allowed him to finally relocate to Prague.
His expertise lies in service desk operations and IT infrastructure management. Over the years, he has had the privilege of leading several successful projects that not only honed his technical skills but also underscored his passion for effective service delivery.
He appreciates MSF SITS for the numerous opportunities for professional growth and continuous development, as well as its friendly working environment and spirit of collaboration among colleagues.
A graduate of Electronic and Communications Engineering from Greece, he has been actively engaged in the IT industry since 2004, beginning his career at Greek National Television. In 2020, he relocated to Czechia to expand his expertise in Information Technology, with a particular emphasis on Cloud Technologies. Driven by an insatiable thirst for knowledge, he developed a keen interest in Information Security and promptly shifted his focus entirely to this domain.
Since 2020, Nick has been working with MSF SITS, gradually progressing from a junior service desk position to his current role as the leader of the Security function at Shared IT Services. He collaborates with other leading security practitioners across MSF, working tirelessly to protect the organization's digital environment.
He owns a substantial collection of books related to information security and regularly spends weekends with industry colleagues, discussing security matters over a cold beer.
After finishing her doctoral degree in Biophysics at Charles University in Prague, she became interested in the prospective field of IT, launching her professional career at DHL, where she enjoyed a successful career spanning over nine years and multiple roles. Starting as a service desk analyst, answering customers' calls, she left the company and her position as Senior Service Delivery Manager in 2019 to join the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of helping MSF create its one and only Shared IT Services center in Prague.
Being one of the first employees at MSF SITS, Vera has stayed loyal to the cause and mission of MSF, even as her professional responsibilities changed: first leading the Service Delivery team, then the Project Management Office, and finally becoming the Deputy General Manager in June 2024. She enjoys the dynamic and never-boring nature of working in such an international organization and knowing her work contributes—albeit indirectly—to changing people's lives worldwide.
About the organization
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) translates to Doctors without Borders. MSF’s global mission is to provide medical and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or exclusion from healthcare.
MSF established its Shared IT Services centre (SITS) in Prague in 2019. The aim of SITS is to streamline the delivery of IT services in MSF through increasing efficiency, reducing duplicated efforts, and improving the quality of shared technology support services.
Today in SITS nearly 60 professionals from 30 nationalities support the delivery of SITS services to all MSF sections and entities, from cloud infrastructure and application management to cybersecurity, licensing and data pipeline development.
What they are looking for
