The Head of transversal projects FMCG is in charge of the monitoring of existing transversal processes within FMCG and the launch and follow up of new projects to improve FMCG operational efficiency.

Following Shift and Lift initiatives, global tools have been delivered and allow for global processes to be put in place. Some of key processes have been harmonised across teams and territories like valuation, IG monitoring, budgeting, but some fund by fund approaches remain and therefore need a focus on. Moreover, additional topics need homogeneity and thus require new dedicated projects to be launched.

To ensure her/his missions, The head of transversal projects FMCG will manage a team of Finance Managers and/or Financial Controllers to help in both monitoring existing processes and participate in defining and deploying new projects. This covers both real estate and infrastructure equity funds.

Responsible of the monitoring of existing transversal processes with FMCG:

Transversal processes have been defined to ensure full alignment of various FMCG team’s deliveries and reduce both operational risks and team workload through automation. In this framework, key responsibilities are:

  • Ensuring monitoring of the process and full compliance with the agreed standard (appropriate roles & responsibilities document)
  • Onboarding FMCG teams, training new joiners.
  • Constantly assessing if the process is efficient and/or if any amendment is required. In such a case, liaising with IT and support teams to adapt tools, templates and modify process description respecting the appropriate governance.
  • Improve monitoring tools so that any process deviation can be identified and analysed.
  • Organise with the data management team controls over static data that FMCG is responsible for. Systems being all interconnected, data accuracy is key and require strict monitoring on a permanent basis.
  • Represent FMCG in global projects or Lift initiatives.
  • Existing main current processes to be monitored by the head of transversal projects FMCG and her/his team are: 
    • Valuation 
    • Investment Guidelines
    • KRI and stress tests
    • Regulatory reporting (AIFM and others ad hoc requests)
    • ESG reporting (SFDR and others)

Responsible of identifying new projects and participate in their delivery:

  • Thanks to a complete integration within FMCG teams, the head of transversal projects FMCG is in a position to identify new areas where automation and standardisation can be implemented. Projects can then be launched either at FMCG level or more largely including additional resources when required if agreed by appropriate governance. Key responsibilities of the Head of Transversal Projects FMCG on projects are:
  • Identification of areas where standardisation and automation would improve efficiency
  • Prioritisation of projects 
  • Management of projects agreed at FMCG level and organisation of the team support

Potential already identified projects could be:

  • Accounting quarterly closing mechanism
  • Liability management & Fund Performance monitoring tool

Having a single FMCG representative able to act considering constraints of all investment vehicles is key in delivering efficient global projects or lift initiatives. Key responsibilities of the head of transversal projects FMCG are:

  • Having a complete understanding of FMCG related business needs or constraints and represent them in front of the project team.
  • Testing new tools and processes and making sure to select appropriate test users within all FMCG teams.

Main current Lift initiatives requiring FMCG inputs are currently.

  • Yardi loan module for external & internal loans
  • MSCI reporting tool.
  • Budget vs actuals

Be a team leader:

  • Hire and retain talented teams comprising complementary profiles.
  • Define team objectives and deliver on-going feedback and annual appraisals, 
  • Define split of tasks between all team members; main agendas and schedules of tasks (with time implications and milestones)
  • Communicate internally (within the team) and externally for appropriate decisions.

Your qualifications and experience:

  • Degree in Business Administration (Controlling or Finance)
  • Proven experience in fund management and / or fund financial management with knowledge / understanding of pan-European real estate fund structures and management.
  • Proven experience in audit, fund accounting, fund controlling and financial control in the European real estate industry.
  • Proven experience in Real Estate, Asset Management and/or Project Management would be a plus. 
  • Successful team management experience
