Captain Data was founded by three engineers—friends for over a decade—who started building in Nantes in 2018 before relocating to Paris to tap into a more dynamic tech and business ecosystem.

Originally bootstrapped, we raised a pre-seed round in 2020, followed by a €1M seed in late 2021. Since then, we’ve built a mature, feature-rich platform with a clear product vision—shaped not by theory, but through real-world iterations and customer feedback.

Today, over 30% of our revenue comes from the US, and we’re proud to be break-even as we continue expanding internationally. Our ambition is clear: build the leading intent data infrastructure for SaaS companies and AI agents worldwide.

Captain Data is at the forefront of redefining how businesses leverage real-time intent data to power their sales intelligence. With a clear mission and sustainable growth, we’re just getting started.

Here’s how we’ve evolved:

• 2022: Released our first no-code workflow editor, empowering teams to automate data processes effortlessly.

• 2023: Focused on supporting our core customers while initiating a pivot toward APIs and real-time intent data.

• 2024: Finalized our pivot, shifting our full focus to APIs and larger enterprise clients, particularly in the US.

• 2025: Building on our break-even success, we’re accelerating international growth with trusted clients like Clay, Lemlist, Tamtam, Scalestack, and more.

Our mission remains clear: to empower businesses with scalable, actionable data solutions that drive innovation and growth across industries.

One of the key thing at Captain Data would be transparency.

There's a very strong knowledge sharing culture, and everything is opened and easily accessible. We're using Notion a LOT.

We have a no-bullshit culture - you'll be asked for honest feedback and get such feedback.

Nobody's perfect, we sure ain't.

But we like the idea of "doing better".
