Job description

At Dataiku, we're not just adapting to the AI revolution, we're leading it. Since our beginning in Paris in 2013, we've been pioneering the future of AI with a platform that makes data actionable and accessible. With over 1,000 teammates across 25 countries and backed by a renowned set of investors, we're the architects of Everyday AI, enabling data experts and domain experts to work together to build AI into their daily operations, from advanced analytics to Generative AI.

We are seeking a Senior Counsel, Employment Law with a strong global employment law background to join our dynamic legal team. You will be instrumental in providing strategic, pragmatic legal guidance on a wide array of employment matters in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) while also helping to drive global initiatives in a fast-paced tech environment.

The ideal candidate will have at least 6 years of combined experience at a law firm and in-house at a multinational company, with a strong understanding of European employment laws and the ability to manage complex, multi-jurisdictional employment issues.

Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Provide pragmatic legal counsel on a broad spectrum of employment matters, including complex employee relations, hiring, terminations, reorganizations, redundancies, leaves of absence, compensation and benefits, performance management, disciplinary actions, investigations, and workplace policies.

  • Collaborate on global projects, working alongside cross-functional teams to address complex employment law issues.

  • Advise on compliance with employment laws and regulations in EMEA, including GDPR, working time regulations, and collective labor law obligations.

  • Draft, review, and implement employment policies and procedures to support a fast-growing international workforce.

  • Oversee and manage employment disputes, including grievances, investigations, and external claims, and work with external counsel when necessary.

  • Deliver training sessions to HR and business leaders on employment law compliance and best practices.

  • Work closely with the People team to create and update employment contracts, policies, and separation agreements and develop relevant training programs.

  • Proactively identify legal risks and opportunities and recommend appropriate actions.

  • Monitor emerging trends in employment law, including regulatory changes and enforcement, to keep the business well-informed and compliant.

  • Lead process improvements to scale the employment law function across the organization.

Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Fluency in French and/or German is a big plus!
  • A qualified lawyer in the UK or an EU jurisdiction.

  • Minimum of 6 years post-qualification experience in employment law, combining law firm and in-house counsel experience at a multinational company.

  • Strong knowledge of European employment law and proven experience advising on a broad range of employment law topics, with experience in handling cross-border employment matters in EMEA.

  • Prior experience working in-house at a technology company is highly preferred.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to negotiate effectively.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to think strategically with a business-oriented approach to legal problem-solving.

  • Collaborative and team-oriented with strong leadership qualities and a proactive mindset.

  • High ethical standards and integrity.

  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities with effective time management skills.

  • Comfort in engaging with senior leaders and providing constructive challenges when necessary.

  • GDPR compliance in an employment context.

  • Experience with collective labor law matters, including engaging with works councils or unions.

  • Familiarity with French and/or German employment law is a significant advantage.

If you are passionate about employment law and eager to contribute to a rapidly growing company, we encourage you to apply. Please submit your CV and a cover letter outlining your relevant experience and interest in the role.
