GitGuardian started in November 2017 with two passionate engineers Jérémy Thomas and Eric Fourrier (our CEO) who wondered if they could find secrets (API keys, authentication tokens, passwords) leaked on public GitHub. And they did!

August 24, 2018: ~2M$ Seed round led by Fly Ventures, with notable participation from Solomon Hykes (Docker co-founder), and Scott Chacon (GitHub co-founder).
January 11, 2019: Fred Hutchinson is our first customer, even before the product is launched! It’s a 28k$ deal. Fred Hutchinson is still a GitGuardian customer today.
October 30, 2019: ~10M$ Series A led by Balderton Capital, with participation from existing investors.
December 2021: Series B funding with $ 44M!
September 2022: First U.S. Guardian!
April 2023: 100 Guardians!
September 2023: Opening of an office in Boston.
June 2024: 150 Guardians!
