Specifically, the independent permanent control team, seating in the Second Line of Defense, provides assurance activities across all risks and controls within HSBC’s non-financial and financial risk taxonomies. This team performs independent reviews on all inherent Medium and Low risks assessed under all the HBCE scope. The scope of these reviews covers of all the Businesses and Functions located in all HSBC Continental Europe countries.
We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team.
What will you do?
The role contributes to the global standardised Assurance approach ensuring that it is aligned to the bank’s Risk Management Framework (RMF). It is responsible for contributing to the delivery of end-to-end assurance work over all risks (Resilience, Legal, Tax, Credit, …) and controls (except IT Risks). The role holder will also perform assurance activity related to ESG regulatory requirements, Business model and enterprises strategy (Stress testing, ICAAP, FRP…). Under the responsibility of the Risk function, your main activities will be mainly to prepare, realize and send conclusions (reviews reports) within Permanent Control reviews.
Principal Accountabilities:
In this role you will:
- Support the design and execution of assurance activities, ensuring that all relevant standards, policies, and procedures are met
- Contribute to improve risk management by conducting controls and propose appropriate recommendations
- Provide knowledge, management, and overview of all HBCE risk area, including ESG regulatory requirements, Business model and enterprises strategy (Stress testing, ICAAP, FRP…)
- Conduct reviews and/or analyze risk monitoring indicators to assess risk control for HSBC Continental Europe perimeter
- Escalate significant control deficiencies in a timely manner
- Identify deficiencies & weaknesses and root cause to enable the implementation of an effective action plan with customer satisfaction view, commercial efficiency, profitability, quality of operations and risks, compliance with regulatory rules, and the Bank’s social and economic responsibility
- Inform Risk Owners, Control Owners and Risk Stewards of the design and operational effectiveness of the controls within their area of oversight and control
Customers/Stakeholders Build strong relationships with all internal stakeholders, adopting a cohesive approach to the execution of tasks with minimum conflict.
Develop/maintain positive and professional relationships with external stakeholders, while ensuring the independence of the assurance function.
Teamwork Drive a high performance culture across the team through effective leadership, engagement and collaboration.
Provide stakeholders with timely, concise insight into assurance activities.
Contribute to the production of high quality assurance deliverables, through effective quality control at each stage of the assurance review life-cycle, e.g. Terms of Reference issuance, fieldwork completion and reporting.
ConditionsYou should apply if you have: - Strong level of business knowledge and/or operational experience of one or more of the business or functional specialist areas. An experience in Global Banking and Markets should be appreciated
- Clear understanding of the Risk and Control framework within financial services industry and Strong knowledge of European regulation
- Experience in Assurance team or Second Line of Defense activities
- Be able to build positive and resilient partnerships with key stakeholders
- Lateral thinker with an ability to interpret and solve complex issues
- Excellent communication skills with very strong inter-personal and influencing skills
- Track record of working autonomously and leading teams to deliver
- Strong decision-making capability
- English speaker and writer.
- Initial knowledge of ESG regulatory requirements, Business model and enterprises strategy framework should be a plus
