📌 Jus Mundi is looking for a VP/Head of Data | LLM - NLP

All our services are based on our global legal database, which is unique in the world! We collect and structure the world’s legal data and make it available to the legal community.
LLM & NLP are at the heart of our model!

We’re looking for an outstanding data leader to accompany us on our journey of making global legal information easily accessible worldwide.

Your main responsibility will be to translate Jus Mundi’s vision of powering global justice into reality by leading and structuring the company’s data and AI function, designing and developing scalable data pipelines, and leveraging state-of-the-art natural language processing (NLP) and large language models (LLM) to build AI solutions that push the boundaries of legal technology.

📌 Key Responsibilities:

As Head of Data & AI, your missions will be to develop and implement the company’s vision and R&D strategy for legal data and AI, build scalable data pipelines and architecture, and lead a growing team of data scientists and AI engineers:

  1. Develop and implement company vision and R&D strategy for legal data and AI.

    • Define and implement the company’s vision for data and AI, aligning it with broader business objectives.

    • Work closely with product, sales and customer success teams to understand customer needs and tailor AI solutions that drive adoption and engagement.

    • Drive innovation by identifying emerging trends in AI and data science, and integrating them into our product offerings.

    • Ensure scalability, reliability and ethical use of AI models and data systems across the business.

    • Oversee data acquisition, processing and management to ensure high-quality, secure and compliant data sets.

    • Implement data governance policies and frameworks to maintain data integrity and security.

  2. Build scalable data pipelines and architecture Design and implement scalable data pipelines and infrastructure for Jus Mundi’s public legal data and customers’ private data.

    • Design and implement scalable data pipelines and infrastructure for Jus Mundi’s public legal data and customers’ private data.

    • Lead a team of data scientists, data and software engineers building these new data pipelines.

    • Leverage LLM to dramatically improve the accuracy of metadata extraction identification and dramatically reduce the cost of manual processing.

    • Build a knowledge graph from a wide variety of documents with relationships, implement graph queries with sub-second response times.

    • Partner with product and other teams to ensure that data pipelines enable the development and deployment of AI-based features and solutions for all products.

  3. Develop and lead a team of high-level AI/data profiles.

    • Be the CTO’s right-hand man, in charge of all AI/data profiles in the technical team.

    • Collaborate with the People & Marketing teams to develop Jus Mundi’s brand as an AI leader in order to attract top talent.

    • Lead, mentor and develop the team of data scientists and AI engineers from 5 to 10 members in 2025.

    • Inspire a high-performance culture within the data and AI team.

    • Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning and innovation within the team

    • Achieve and maintain excellent eNPS within the data/AI team.


Preferred experience

Must

  • More than 10 years’ experience in data science, machine learning or AI, including more than 5 years in a leadership role.

  • Proven experience in delivering AI-powered products and scalable data pipelines at scale.

  • Proven expertise in engineering and data science with a strong understanding of NLP and LLMs.

  • Experience leading a cross-functional team of 6+ direct reports.

  • Experience in a startup/scale-up environment of 100+ people

  • Strong understanding of data governance, security and compliance frameworks

Nice

  • PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field

  • Experience in a startup/scale-up environment of 250+ people
