The position

Job description

MaiaSpace aims at providing an affordable access to space thanks to its reusable launcher. As a launch industry market entrant, our teams dedicate a lot of time and energy to monitor recurring costs.

In this context, the “Industrialization” team provides the launch system development teams with tools and best practices in order to help them reach their cost targets. Since Day 1, a design-to-cost approach has been adopted at MaiaSpace to produce a cost-effective launcher and our teams implement all the necessary actions to keep our costs on target.

Internship description:

As an intern, you will join the "Industrialization" team, a transverse team dedicated to ensuring the bridge from prototypes production to serial production, and support our colleagues on costing, environmental issues, quality and procurement. You will work on all costing topics alongside the Cost Management Engineer and the Chief Strategy & Performance Officer,and interact with many team leaders in the company.

Your mission will cover (but not be limited to) the following areas:

  • The development of a costing toolbox (e.g. a cost benchmarking tool using a database to compute a rough order of magnitude of an item cost, a tool linking costing, procurement and financial aspects, reporting tools using Excel or PowerBI…)
  • Taking part of all “Recurring Cost monitoring” activities (e.g. regular teams follow-up meetings, target management, ExCo reporting…).
  • Assisting the Chief Strategy & Performance Officer and the Chief Financial Officer in ad-hoc activities.

Preferred experience

Qualification: Master’s student involved in an aerospace engineering degree with an interest in business issues and costing. 

Skills required: 

  • Experience with Excel is required, and PowerBI is a plus.
  • Interest in the space sector, and the launcher industry in particular, is required.
  • Knowledge in systems engineering is required.
  • Knowledge of design-to-cost methodology and costing methods (should cost, analogic…) is a plus.
  • Knowledge in design and analysis of aerospace structures (especially launchers), including familiarity with manufacturing techniques would be a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required.
  • Fluency in English is required and fluency in French is a plus.

Internship duration: 5 to 6 months (flexible start date) 

Location: Paris area (La Défense)
