The position

Job description

In this position, you will :

  • Perform 3D PDO culture experiments following established protocols and conduct initial analyses of the data

  • Participate in the development and optimisation of new cell culture protocols

  • Participate in the development and optimisation of CRISPR screening assays

  • Maintain the Orakl Oncology biobank: you will participate expanding and conserving the biobank and in quality control experiments

  • Implement state-of-the-art processes and good engineering practices (LIMS/eLN, sample traceability etc.).

  • Conduct assay development and optimisation with senior lab members

  • Participate in the lab maintenance and keep the experimental infrastructure in shape

The employee will be report to a Principal Scientist in the Orakl Oncology research team. They will be trained to be able to conduct experiments on our patient-derived models so that they will become autonomous on all our activities.


Preferred experience

Minimum qualifications:

  • MSc in molecular/cellular biology, genetics, biotechnology, bioengineering or similar.

  • Extensive lab experience.

  • Hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture, 3D cell culture and preferably organoid culture.

  • Basic knowledge in molecular biology (RT PCR, qPCR, Western Blot, DNA and RNA isolation etc.).

  • Exceptional attention to detail and organisational rigour.

  • Flexibility, resourcefulness and a history of overcoming operational challenges.

  • A genuine enthusiasm and passion for teamwork and learning.

  • Fluency in English is required

Preferred qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of microscopy and image analysis

  • Basic knowledge of programming e.g. Python

  • Prior experience in high-throughput experiments or lab automation

  • A general understanding and genuine curiosity for cancer biology

  • Strong communication skills
