Job description

Help us digitalize international freight transportation!

OVRSEA is a next-generation multimodal freight forwarder committed to simplifying and optimizing international freight management through technology. They coordinate the transports of 700+ companies across 60 countries, and provide their clients with a unique platform on which their teams can manage their shipments in a simple and transparent way. With already 160 employees globally, they are continuing their growth in 2024 and hiring people internationally! Are you ready to join us and be a part of this exciting adventure?

The Operations team 🚢

The Operations (Ops) Team is responsible for organizing and coordinating the international transportation needs of our clients. Serving as the primary point of contact, the Ops team acts as a bridge between our customers and our carefully chosen service providers. The team plays a crucial role in ensuring an exceptional customer experience at OVRSEA. Reactivity, excellence, pedagogy, and customer awareness are the guiding principles that drive our team.

This position is based in our new office Marseille. You will be the 1st Operation Manager locally and will work closely with the Sales team located there. We aim at expanding the Marseille Ops team next year.

Your missions as an Operations Manager at OVRSEA 🦸

As an Operations Manager, you will be the primary coordinator of international transport, managing our service providers, including agents, shipping and trucking carriers, and customs brokers. You will keep clients informed about their shipment progress, update them on key stages, guide them through challenges, and provide the best possible solutions when necessary. Committed to delivering high-quality service, prompt responsiveness, and reliability, you will drive OVRSEA's growth with the following responsibilities:

👉 Global transport operations for large imports or exports (70%)

- Manage a portfolio of customers.

- Coordinate and organize air, sea, road, and rail transport.

- Advise customers and proactively resolve issues.

👉 Operational planning and pricing of international transport (10%)

- Response to customer requests for quotations: complete planning of international transport by sea, air and rail.

- Participation in the improvement loop between quotation, operations and invoicing: be able to step back and improve upstream to make operations run more smoothly and invoicing easier.

👉 Manage customer invoicing (10%)

- Participation in the invoicing of transport files.

- Manage the contact with customers to explain the differences that may appear between the quotation and the billing.

👉 Development and structuring (10%)

- Manage supplier relationships and negotiations (carriers & agents worldwide).

- Develop the team’s knowledge (research and production of articles).

- Refine operational strategies.

What will this job bring you? 🌟

- Relational skills: you will interact with people from more than 70+ countries (customers, service providers), from various industries and company sizes.

- We value a strong learning environment at OVRSEA. Continuous learning is very important to us, which will allow you to solve rather complicated problems.

- We have a team with different backgrounds: some experienced in the world of transport and others who have never done it before. This balance guarantees a dynamic and close-knit atmosphere in the face of an intense day-to-day.

Why join us at OVRSEA? 💚

- Join a corporate backed tech startup for an incredible human adventure. Together, let's make a huge impact on the international transport revolution!

- Be part of our team of ambitious and talented individuals who share our values: analytical thinking, quality execution, and a deep thirst for learning.

- Experience a personalized onboarding program and a clear career trajectory with defined career paths for each team, setting you up for success from day one.

- Work in a vibrant work environment and take on challenging projects, collaborating with other teams while enjoying a high level of ownership and autonomy.

- Benefit for commuter benefits, meal vouchers and healthcare benefits. In France: "Prime vacances", 80% of Alan’s health insurance paid by OVRSEA, Swile card with €10 per worked day, flexible remote policy, and other benefits.

- Engage in exciting events, including weekly culture presentations (the famous OVRSEA “PICs”), learning sessions, team rituals, and great parties!

Are you the one? 🤝

- This position is ideally addressed to people with 2-3 years of experience after graduation.

- Your colleagues and management recognize your autonomy and reliability. These qualities will be essential for working efficiently with your management team based in Paris.

- You have a strong interest in the transport industry. You are curious by nature, and are never satisfied with the answer “we’ve always done it this way”.

- You can handle challenging situations: Ops days in transportation are exciting but intense. Lots of issues and requests at the same time, and non-stop deadlines. You think solutions rather than problems, and you are able to take initiative.

- You demonstrate excellent communication skills.

- You are fluent in both French and English.

Our recruitment process

- Screening call with Hugo, Head of Operations in France (45').

- Interview including a transportation case study with one of our Operations Team Leaders and a Senior Operations Manager (60').
