Job Summary

The Engineering Project Support Specialist (EPS) will support engineering project management efforts by assisting in achieving the project's cost and delivery objectives. This position is responsible for the planning, budgeting, scheduling, bidding, and documentation of engineering related activities. Other responsibilities include identification and monitoring of risks and opportunities, ensuring project deliverables are met, and providing critical operational support to drive project performance. By contributing to key performance goals, you will help ensure that both internal and external stakeholders are aligned with project timelines and cost expectations, facilitating the successful execution of engineering projects.

Essential Job Functions

• Promote and uphold standards, ensuring compliance with program and project management processes.
• Assist in planning, budgeting, scheduling, statusing of program tasks, and control within programs.
• Support risk management processes and communicate actions to mitigate or resolve risks.
• Organize and facilitate management activities, including month-end activities, reviews, milestone assessments, and actions.
• Coordinate and update program information such as KPIs (including Earned Value (EV) metrics), reports, related documents, and dashboards.
• Responsible for coordinating with project leads to ensure Estimate to Complete (ETC) for active programs are properly documented. Responsible for coordinating with proposal leads to ensure anticipated programs are accurately captured and updated monthly.
• Coordinate with financial organization the opening and update of project network activities and resources.
• Support the Bid & Proposal process, assisting in bid narratives and bid reviews.
• Support operational teams with management processes, including program and project management, work package management, visual management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to feedback on program and project management to support continuous improvement efforts.
• Support the analysis of engineering staffing, capital assets, and other engineering manager assigned tasks.
• Organize engineering bid input data and capture results as a roll-up for engineering sign-off.
• Perform other duties as assigned.


Preferred experience


Education/Experience

• Bachelor's degree in appropriate discipline.
• Typical experience:
4 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.

• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Proactive, highly motivated and adaptable, with excellent organizational skills including the ability to juggle multiple tasks, changing needs, and competing priorities with ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
• Must have the ability to coordinate several projects and complex engineering support activities while balancing priorities and schedules
• Intermediate to high level expertise with MS Office Suite
• Intermediate expertise with development and management of Integrated Master Schedule and scheduling tools, such as MS Project
• Experience with ForProject strongly desired. Understanding of resource allocation and strong understanding of EV concepts required.
• Strong proofreading and document preparation skills
• Experience in program management office (project management)
• Experience within engineering development process, a plus, but not required.
• Experience in SAP is a plus

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position and occasionally move about the office and laboratory. Constantly operates and use a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copier/printer and laboratory machinery. The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information these situations. The ability to observe, identify and assess details at close range (within a few feet of the observer). Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds across office for various needs.
