The position

Job description

Your environment: You will be joining the Lattes facility (near Montpellier), a major R&D and engineering center of Schneider Electric. Since 1993, the Lattes site, where more than 400 people work, specializes in digital control-command systems and automation of electrical substations.We operate in all market segments, from generation, including renewable energies, to the transmission, and distribution of electricity for our "electricity network operators" clients as well as our private "sensitive" and/or "intensive energy consumers" clients.You will be part of the Digital Power department, which is responsible for managing complex projects for our Data Center clients. We offer energy management solutions that enable our energy-intensive clients to have real-time visibility into their electrical installation (current quality and key parameters, availability of backup solutions…) using connected products (protection relays), software solutions, and human-machine interfaces.You will report to Stéphane, Director for Offers, and join a team of 4 people specialized in designing offers (quotes) for our clients worldwide.Your role: You will be responsible for leading the tender activities (upstream phase) by consolidating the entire Schneider Electric offer. You will build an optimal technical and financial offer and support the sales forces in Schneider countries during negotiations with clients.To do this, you will work closely with Schneider's commercial organizations (global scope) and with our engineering centers.You will lead 2 offer managers who will support you in building the offers and you will be part of the Steering Committee of the Digital Power activity.Your missions:

  • You will review the tender and recommend a Bid/NoBid decision based on the client's specifications and the Schneider Electric offer
  • You will seek the optimal technical-commercial solution that is most competitive to meet the client's needs - relying on the offer repository.
  • You will draft the offer in all its components (with the support of relevant business experts): technical, financial, procurement, contractual, installation… and aim to reduce risks for SE in each of these areas.
  • When the offer involves multiple Schneider Electric entities, you will challenge each lot independently to build the best offer.
  • Financially, you will comply with the Schneider Project Process rules regarding cash flow curves, risk analysis, margin levels…
  • You will defend the offer in project steering committees.
  • You will ensure that during the negotiation phase, the sales forces stay within the framework of the built and validated offer. You will control margin deviations in particular.
  • Upon obtaining the order, you will lead the project handover to the execution team.
  • Continuous improvement:
    • You will set up a system to compare each offer with reference offers to ensure consistent commercial positioning worldwide (monitoring hit rates, margin deviations in the execution phase…).
    • You will communicate with stakeholders to explain and detail Schneider's offer positioning in this market segment.
    • You will conduct an analysis of won or lost opportunities and contribute to the improvement of quotation tools.
You are:
  • A Master's graduate with a technical academic background (engineer or equivalent) with at least 10 years of experience in which:
    • You have been a project manager in a technical environment
    • You have already responded to complex technical tender offers
    • Part of this experience has been gained with international clients
And you have…:
  • Proficiency in English (permanent working language). Proficiency in French would be a plus
  • Knowledge of the data center world would be a plus.
  • Financial mastery of tender elements and project management (margin elements, cash flow curves, incoming/outgoing margin monitoring…)
  • Project management skills to rally, influence, organize
  • Very good communication skills in a multicultural environment
