Responsibilities

The Commodities Research Group is part of the bank wide macro research team and covers all commodities markets with a particular focus on macro commodities such as oil, gold and copper. The team is particularly interested in analyzing commodities market from an increasingly important energy transition perspective. Through time, SG's commodity research product has evolved to become highly differentiated in its "quantamental" approach. The team has developed a variety of quantitative tools that it maintains and uses to systematically analyze markets in a consistent way. The team is also highly involved in assisting with the development of systematic trading strategies.

Your mission as a future V.I.E. Quantitative Commodities Strategist will be to:

• work directly with the bank's global head of commodity strategy
• develop and implement new quantitative analytics and model
• learn how to model the fundamentals and market microstructure of a host of commodity markets into actionable Python trading signal
  work on ad-hoc quantitative analysis

Due to the VIE eligibility criteria a questionnaire will be provided. Please make sure to answer all the questions for an efficient analysis of your application.

Please note that for the missions outside the European countries, a VISA is necessary. Please make sure your passport is valid up to 6 months after the end of the VIE contract to not delay your departure. Otherwise, we strongly advise you to launch asap the renewal of your passport.

Profile required

PLEASE NOTE that since this program is primarily an international development program, candidates cannot apply to a VIE assignment in their own country of citizenship.

Studies & experience:
• Graduate with a Master degree from Business/Engineering School or University with a specialization in Computer Science/Mathematics/Physics
• A previous experience in using Python to implement/deploy new models would be appreciated

Language skills:
• Fluent in English (B2-C1)

Technical, operational & Soft skills:
• Highly proficient in Python
• Proficient/Good command of MS Office
• Good communication and presentation skills
• Attention to detail as pertains to data scrubbing and integrity
• Ability to challenge model assumptions quantitatively and work
• Capacity to work collaboratively across geographies with other team members in Europe but also other groups in the US
• Basic knowledge of machine learning and interest in the subject

The VIE assignment in a nutshell

This VIE in New York is to begin as soon as possible but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 18 months. The VIE is a specific contract, under Business France's eligibility criteria, opened to candidates under 28 and from the member states of the European Economic Space.
