Job description

We are expanding our Business Development team and seeking a Business Development Specialist to help grow our UK operations. This role will focus on developing and managing partnerships to expand our farmer network and accelerate the transition to regenerative agriculture, alongside assisting with our ‘direct to farmer’ approach.

Are you passionate about sustainable farming and eager to apply your skills in a fast-growing, impact-driven start-up? If so, we’d love to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:

1. Partnership Development

  • Identify and secure partnerships with key stakeholders (e.g. merchants, cooperatives, traders).

  • Negotiate and finalise partnership agreements.

  • Develop and oversee clear roll-out strategies for partnership projects.

  • Maintain strong relationships with existing partners and provide technical support for implementing Soil Capital solutions.

  • Organise and lead engagement activities with partners and farmers, including field days, webinars, and training sessions.

2. Geographical Zone Management

  • Take ownership of a designated geographical area for farmer recruitment.

  • Analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess market opportunities and optimise engagement strategies.

3. Farmer Acquisition & Sales

  • Manage inbound enquiries and convert them into sales opportunities.

  • Proactively seek out new business opportunities and qualify potential leads.

  • Negotiate and close deals with farmers to onboard them into Soil Capital’s programmes.

4. Continuous Improvement & Strategy

  • Contribute to refining sales operations and improving processes.

  • Provide insights to enhance product offerings and services.

  • Play an active role in improving overall business processes and strategies.

Preferred experience

What We’re Looking For:

1. Business Development Experience

  • Proven success in B2B/B2C sales, with a track record of driving growth.

  • Experience in account management and external partnerships leading to customer acquisition.

2. Entrepreneurial Mindset

  • Self-motivated, organised, and commercially driven.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a proactive and results-oriented approach.

  • Willingness to take on additional responsibilities when needed.

3. Agricultural Background (Highly Desirable)

  • Strong knowledge of agriculture, ideally in regenerative or low-carbon farming.

  • Established industry contacts within farmer networks or agricultural partnerships.

4. Additional Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence (frequent travel required).
