As Research Consultant, you will join EcoAct’s Research and Innovation department. We are an international and multidisciplinary team (decarbonisation, climate risks, sustainable finance, environmental policies, etc.) that aims at anticipating organisations’ environmental-related needs and developing new services to support them in succeeding in their ambitions.
You will specifically join the team in charge of R&I projects related to transition risks (regulation, carbon and energy pricing, technologies evolution, customer behaviour changes…) and be responsible for strengthening Ecoact’s expertise on environmental policies and transition scenarios.
Your position will be responsible for monitoring the regulatory situation in his or her field, carrying out quantitative and qualitative impact studies and analyses, and helping to train teams in the challenges of these changes. In addition, the Consultant will work with the Advisory and Business Development teams to develop innovative service offerings in line with the new regulations (CSRD, Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, European taxonomy, EU-ETS, Net-Zero Industry Act…).
The scope of the post will adapt to regulatory developments, but will be strongly focused on developments in Europe and the UK. One of the priorities for 2025 will be on the new European Commission agenda and to develop methodologies and services to help our clients in evolving their business models in conjunction with the CSRD and Taxonomy and in the medium term the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD).
The post holder will contribute to create partnerships around research projects with public and private research players, and to promote his/her studies at conferences. He or she will also be asked to take part in occasional consultancy assignments to provide expert support.
The Consultant will work in collaboration with multidisciplinary experts in an international environment, and will be encouraged to develop his/her skills according to his/her aptitudes.
Main tasks :
- Monitoring regulatory developments and market trends ;
- Spreading knowledge and training staff in these changes and their impact ;
- In collaboration with the Research and Innovation team, carry out studies and analyses of environmental policies and transition risks linked to changes in the political-legal frameworks;
- Develop methods and associated tools to help our clients in adapting with new regulations ;
- Participating in the development of innovative service offerings relating to the low-carbon transition scenarios;
- Contributing to the development of new regulations (public consultations, working groups, etc.).
- Participating in research projects in collaboration with public and private research bodies (think tanks, universities, start-ups, etc.);
- Provide technical support to the other Ecoact divisions ;
- Make proposals on priority themes and analysis methods.

· MSc in law, economics, public policies, business or similar. PhD is a plus.
· 1 to 3 years of experience in public institutions, think-tank, or companies in climate strategy. European experience is a plus
· Knowledge of the UK and European Climate/Environmental Regulations and practical experience in public policies analyses and/or enforcement.
· Practical knowledge of statistical software (Excel) and data analysis
· Experience in environmental law is a plus
· Organized, autonomous, proactive.
· Scientific rigour combined with an appetite for popularisation.
· Good verbal and written communication skills.
· Fluent professional English, French is a plus.
