Position Overview

Location: Paris (France) 

The Apps Team is part of the Core Systems tribe, working alongside the Cloud team to build robust, cloud-based software solutions for cross-functional use cases across our vertical offerings. We focus on designing distributed and scalable systems primarily in Python, ensuring they are efficient, reliable, and can adapt to rapid growth. Currently, we oversee the human-in-the-loop application that powers all AI quality assurance at Diffusely, and as our verticals continue to expand, we expect to develop additional applications to meet emerging needs. In addition to that, we also contribute within the Tribe to the global media processing engine, responsible for the actual AI-powered image processing, serving all Verticals.

Our team’s objectives are as follows:

1. Design and Build Scalable, Secure Systems
   Develop robust applications and infrastructure that meet evolving technical and business requirements, ensuring reliability, maintainability, and adaptability for future growth.

2. Champion Iterative and Continuous Delivery
   Adopt short development cycles and frequent releases to rapidly deliver value and gather feedback, maximizing the impact of each deployment.

3. Optimize Performance and Costs
   Continuously identify opportunities to improve application speed and stability while minimizing resource usage. Implement strategies that deliver tangible cost savings and help the team maintain a competitive edge.

In the capacity of a Senior Backend Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining our systems. Adhering to DevOps and SRE principles, your expertise will play a crucial role in ensuring the security, scalability, and reliability of our systems, ultimately facilitating the delivery of consistent and robust products.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and robust components to support the growth.

• Implement and optimize APIs and backend systems to enhance application performance.

• Analyze and optimize application performance, ensuring minimal downtime and quick response times.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new features and technologies.

• Conduct code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure high-quality code.

• Stay ahead of emerging technologies and propose innovative solutions.

• Define our operational excellence standards.

• Shape the way Diffusely is delivering AI-powered products at scale.

Qualifications/Skills

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in software engineering.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering.

• Expertise in Python development (JAVA is a plus)

• Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with AWS

• Experience with containerization (Docker or K8s)

• Expert-level experience in developing backend systems on a scale with a DevOps mindset

• Experience in using Frontend frameworks

• Understanding of developing resilient, scalable and secure software.

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal (French is a plus, but not mandatory).
