The position

Job description

We get the technology, you get the market! We are looking for someone who will help us navigate and evaluate scientific domains to ensure that our research and development efforts lead to productive, actionable outcomes. This is a highly strategic role that’s more about navigating ambiguity and setting the foundation for long-term scientific projects rather than immediate execution.

The role

The role will report to Ambroise Popper (Chief Business Officer). Your mission will be twofold:

First, you will drive our market intelligence efforts at a macro level, mapping out scientific fields where foundation models could create breakthrough impact. This includes:

  • Analyzing different verticals (neuroscience, climate, robotics, earth observation, etc.) to assess their economic potential

  • Evaluating competitive Landscapes and market Maturity

  • Identifying regulatory and technical barriers

  • Understanding funding flows and commercial dynamics

  • Synthesizing complex scientific and market data into actionable insights

Second, once we identify promising verticals, you will dive deep to:

  • Identify specific downstream applications with the highest potential impact

  • Build relationships with domain experts and potential partners

  • Assess technical feasibility alongside our research team

  • Define potential monetization frameworks

  • Guide strategic betting on specific use cases


Preferred experience

We are looking for a highly interdisciplinary person who can bridge scientific understanding, technological insight, and business acumen.

How does this translate? Here are our key requirements:

  1. You have a strong scientific/technical background

    • Advanced degree in a scientific field (physics, biology, computer science, etc.)

    • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts across different scientific domains

    • Experience working with researchers and/or technical teams/clients

  2. You have proven business analysis and strategy skills

    • Experience in market research, competitive analysis, and strategic planning

    • Track record of identifying and evaluating business opportunities in technical/scientific contexts

    • Strong project management capabilities

    • Excellent stakeholder management skills

  3. You understand the AI/ML landscape

    • Basic understanding of machine learning concepts and foundation models

    • Ability to evaluate AI applications across different domains

    • Interest in staying current with AI developments and their scientific applications
