Job description

To support its R&D activities, the Lesaffre Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) seeks to hire a Data Steward to manage its central Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)

The LIST gathers more than 350 people operating a diversity of high-throughput experimental platforms to serve a great variety of projects, from the early stage of strain development to the final transfer to industrial production. A central LIMS was recently set up to centralize and secure the vast amount data routinely generated by the LIST. This LIMS will be instrumental to accelerate the R&D process, and to inter-connect the R&D data with the rest of the organization.

In this context, we are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a Data Steward for our LIMS. The Data Steward will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data within our LIMS system, in close collaboration with the Centers of Excellence of the LIST and the various Business Units of Lesaffre. This role will play a critical part in the success of our laboratory operations by ensuring that data is consistent and readily available when needed

Missions:

  • Manage and maintain LIMS database including data entry, data verification and data cleaning to ensure accuracy and completeness.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define appropriate data models and to ensure proper data input and maintenance.

  • Train and animate a community of end-users.

  • Produce monthly key performance indicators (KPI) related to LIMS usage, including user activity, data quality and trends.

  • Manage the relationship with the LIMS provider by identifying unmet needs and collaborating on the development of new functionalities.

  • Develop a long-term strategy for the system's evolution to support the integration of emerging experimental platforms.

  • Develop and implement data governance policies and procedures.

Preferred experience

  • Master Degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.

  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a similar role.

  • Proven experience working with LIMS systems.

  • Strong attention to detail with strong analytical skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a cross-functional team.

Prior experience in the following domains would be considered a plus:

  • Industrial fermentation applications.

  • Knowledge graphs modeling.

  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance, specifically regarding data governance and laboratory operations.
