Location :
You can work in this position from any place in France or Spain
You will join the Platform tribe as a Senior Engineer and will help scale PayFit’s practices in delivering an internal developer platform that contributes to product teams' efficiency.
PayFit is transitioning progressively towards a more decoupled architecture, embracing event-driven and following the principles of DDD as the most efficient way to continue to deliver and increase our value proposition iteratively. This also fits in our long-term architecture vision, and relies on a strong internal platform to enable product teams to deliver values in an efficient way.
We scale our observability and reliability capabilities to empower the organization to discover its system improvement opportunities and prioritize them holistically.
We strive to surface actionable KPIs and SLOs to healthily operate and evolve PayFit products for a variety of stakeholders, either technical, product, or business-oriented.
We provide tools, guidelines, knowledge, and policies to deliver and evolve sustainable products.
You will take into consideration constraints of performance, scalability, and security to contribute to the evolution of PayFit’s SaaS architecture. The Senior Engineer role at PayFit involves:
Within the Platform tribe, and more specifically along the Infrastructure Developer Experience team that you would work closely with, this also goes along:
Examples of topics that could be encompassed by this role as of early-2025:
- Design solution to improve our delivery pipelines, helping improve our current Continuous Delivery setup
- Migrate PayFit's workloads towards ARM, with everything that goes along may it be at the build chain level or runtime level
- Get away from legacy systems that are entangled in our whole stack towards better alternatives – ex: replacing our home-made job scheduler based on NSQ by direct usage of SQS and code-level logic
- Contribute to the last miles of our migration of our home-made reverse proxy in Golang by LBs / API Gateway managed by AWS which is ongoing and will unlock more improvements once over
- Work closely with the product teams in order to actively contribute the the vision of the building blocks our platform should provide, and help actually delivering them
Technically speaking, here is the stack that you will be working with:
- Code: 95% TypeScript
- Back-end: mostly NestJS
- Front-end: React
- Build: nx
- Runtime: 80% Kubernetes (AWS EKS) / 20% AWS Lambda
- Continuous Integration: 90% CircleCI / 10% GitHub Actions
- Infrastructure-as-code: OpenTofu stacks applied through Spacelift for most of the infrastructure, AWS SAM for lambdas and the resources around them.
- Observability: Datadog
- Code hosting: GitHub
- Full-blown AWS-based architecture. No pursuit of a mythical “multi-cloud” agnosticism.
- Data storage: depending on actual needs, but so far mostly MongoDB (both self-hosted & through MongoDB Atlas), PostgreSQL through AWS RDS/Aurora, Redis through AWS ElastiCache, AWS OpenSearch, and AWS DynamoDB
- More and more messaging systems (AWS SQS / SNS / EventBridge) and usage of AWS Lambda & Step Functions, as per our ongoing transition toward a more event driven architecture
Of course, such a stack is deemed to evolve as time goes on.
As the above list most likely shows, we happily rely on third parties over trying to manage everything ourselves, preferring to spend time on specific close-to-product matters than on infrastructure & tools maintenance.
