The position

Job description

At SkillCorner, we offer a range of data products, including Tracking and Physical data.
While Tracking (xy coordinate of the players and the ball every 0.1 sec) is mostly used for machine learning purpose by our most advanced users, Physical Data is a central element in most clubs’ recruitment process.

As a Product Manager, you will play a ket role in shaping and enhancing our Tracking and Physical Data offerings, overseeing key projects from conception through execution, and ensuring that customers derive maximum value from our products.

You will be based in SkillCorner’s Paris office.

Missions

Your primary responsibility will be to take prioritized opportunities and transform them into value-adding products for our clients. Key tasks include:

  • Value Proposition Refinement: Conduct customer interviews, hold internal discussions with stakeholders, and analyse customer data to refine the value proposition. Identify success factors.

  • Solution Development: Collaborate on creating specifications, prototyping solutions where necessary, and identifying associated risks/hypotheses to validate.

  • Risk Mitigation: Alleviate risks associated with the proposed solutions and validate assumptions through testing and feedback loops.

  • Delivery: Prioritize the backlog, work closely with data scientists and software engineers to ensure timely delivery, and conduct testing to ensure product quality.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Coordinate with various stakeholders, including internal teams (e.g., sales, software engineers, data scientists) and external users or testers.

The team

You’ll collaborate closely with:

  • Data Scientists who develop algorithms.

  • Software Engineers responsible for data generation, storage, and distribution.

  • Data Analysts, who provide insights and analysis.

Additionally, you will work alongside our Sales team. You will be overseen by Thomas who is currently working on Tracking and Physical Data.

You need to be able to:

Product Discovery & Delivery

  • Distill value propositions to their key elements.

  • Identify the main risks associated with solutions.

  • Prioritise ideas/developments and clearly explain your choices.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Communicate fluently in English with strong writing skills.

  • Bring clarity to complex situations.

  • Collaborate effectively with both technical and business-oriented stakeholders.

  • Manage projects.

Technical Understanding

  • Work comfortably with data and numbers.

  • Understand technologies such as APIs, databases, and machine learning.

  • Have basic coding experience, whether from studies or self-taught.

Personal Traits

  • Be proactive and unafraid to push forward or say “no”.

  • Be transparent and take responsibility for your decisions.

  • Attention to detail. Many of our users are data analysts, data scientists, or sports experts who value precision.

  • Strong desire to learn.

Nice to Have

  • Fluent in French

  • Passion for football and/or knowledge of the football industry

  • Experience with Python, PostgreSQL queries

  • Experience working with Computer Vision scientists

Experience

Any of the following 3 backgrounds will work:

  • At least 3 years as a Product Manager or Product Owner, specifically with experience on technical/data products.

  • At least 3 years as a Data Analyst or Data Scientist working on technical products, with project management experience.

  • At least 3 years as a Data Analyst or Data Scientist in a football club, with project management experience.
