Birth of Flying Whales
🌳 FLYING WHALES was created by Sébastien Bougon, in 2012 to address the problem linked to timber transport and facilitate access to landlocked forests.
In 2017, after 4 years of derisking studies, the LCA60T aeronautical program is launched (first fundraising, launch of industrial consortium)
📍 In 2020, the location of the first factory is announced (FAL: Final Assembly Line): in Laruscade (Nouvelle-Aquitaine).
In early 2024, we pass an important maturity milestone: the CDR. We are now in a phase of integration and verification to prepare for the start of production.
🌍 We're expanding internationally, setting up plants in Quebec and Australia.

🏭 Next step: building plants in Laruscade in the Nouvelle Aquitaine region, in Quebec and in Australia.
Our target: 12 LCA60Ts produced per year at each site.
On the technical side, we are working on certain elements of the airship to make it as green as possible.
We plan to use hydrogen for propulsion, via hydrogen fuel cells or by injecting hydrogen into the turbines, instead of paraffin, which emits more CO2.
We also plan to integrate AI into the piloting systems to support pilots in their decision-making.
Our values are many, but the most important are inherent in our status as builders and in our humanism, which makes us concerned about our society and the value of others.
Our values are therefore at the service of our raison d'être, applied on a daily basis within our organisation, and in particular through our CSR policy.
Because we dare, we are collectively building something very big, something very difficult, starting from little and without reference points. Boldness is the ability to undertake and take risks in order to reach our goals, to push back obstacles.
Because such an ambition cannot be achieved without high standards and discipline in the quality of each and every one of our actions. The challenges of our aeronautical project demand rigorous execution, which guides us on a daily basis.
Without US, there's no project, no company. Above all, it's team spirit that will enable us to achieve far more ambitious goals than individuals could ever accomplish on their own.
Because it's ambitious to want to make the world a better place, because it's ambitious to want to create the world's largest aircraft, its builder and operator, and because it's ambitious to be the first to make it happen on an international scale.
Above all, we want to limit the environmental impact of the project, while at the same time compensating for the lack of infrastructure that is slowing down human development.
To this end, we are actively working on the impact of the airship and the factory. Thanks to an LCA (Life Cycle Assessment), we are in a dynamic process of continuous improvement to measure environmental impact and deal with the most emitting items.
Awareness of global environmental issues is passed on to employees via the Climate Fresco.
This enables everyone to be aware of the causes and consequences of climate upheaval, and to think about how to mitigate the resulting impacts.
