This program is written in the complex and abstruse J programming language, which is well suited to scientific computation. When executed, the program performs random wave functions at different frequencies and phases to produce the smoothly varying waveforms shown in the output. This evokes the image of cross-Atlantic electric and fiber-optic cables being draped across the seabed.
