The intern will be helping the team on the following topics : 

On the Corporate Finance and corporate development side :

• Analyze and optimize AXA IM financial structure: 

o   Capital allocation: i.e. interact with all AXA IM local CFOs to understand their capital position, their local constraints, and ensure AXA IM capital is optimized. 

o   Internal financings: Coordinate and implement internal financings.  

o   Financial result: Analyze and manage AXA IM financial results and propose appropriate actions (e.g. hedging) whenever relevant.  

o   Support AXA IM risk appetite: Work closely with AXA IM Risk Management to review solvency and liquidity risks. 

• Manage transversal projects.

o   Support business developments and strategic projects through financial / structuring support 

o   Regularly review AXA IM overall legal set-up and provide recommendations 

o   Lead internal restructurings such as business transfers, internal mergers or liquidations

o   Perform internal business valuations (e.g. for impairment tests, compensation schemes)

• Analyze and execute AXA IM M&A deals / Affiliates projects

o   Preliminary analysis, valuation, assessment of financial impacts

o   Overall project management, coordination of due diligences, liaison with internal departments and external advisers (auditors, investment banks). 

o   Monitor and analyze overtime AXA IM participations including Joint Ventures 

• Analyze and execute AXA IM JV/partnership/alliance projects

o   Work with local & regional heads as well as global support functions (e.g. Sales, product intelligence, compliance) to identify and structure partnership opportunities that go beyond commercial agreements

o   This projects usually imply a market study heavy lifting before gathering the relevant stakeholders to identify and approach a potential partner

On the Strategy side : 

• Lead or participate to ad-hoc strategic projects, usually at the request of AXA IM Management Board. E.g. new geographical development, launch of asset classes having implications on AXA IM business model, review of portfolio of activities etc. 
• Drive and support the strategic dialogue within AXA IM and with AXA SA notably through:

o   Strategic Plan Process (Group wide exercise)

o   Quarterly Business Review (Internal business reviews)

o   AXA IM Board of Directors 

o   AXA Investor Day 

• Maintain competitive watch of the asset management industry: analysis of listed asset managers results as well as M&A transactions in the sector to identify opportunities in terms of clients/offering/geographies/business models:

o   Identify and analyze dynamics of the Asset Management Industry.

o   Propose and implement Management Board discussions around challenges and opportunities raised by the environment on specific themes.

o   Contribute to industry wide benchmarking projects.

o   Analyze in detail announced M&A transactions 

• Support AXA IM innovation: contribute to European Asset managers CFO forum, support interactions with Fintechs, attend to specific forums to fuel new ideas, analyze impact of new technologies of Asset Management value chain and perform deep dives on specific themes. 
• Identify/source and analyze potential M&A / partnerships opportunities for AXA IM. These opportunities can be sourced by different sources: team work (market screening), investment banks, advisors, distribution etc.

Profile :

Education/Qualifications

• Currently undertaking a Master’s degree in a leading Business or Engineering school with a specialization in Strategy and/or Finance
• Previous experience in asset management/investment banking/audit/consulting firm is an advantage

Personal competencies

• Fluency in English 
• Literate in MS Office, particularly in Excel and Power point
• Strong relationship building skills and autonomy (capacity to carry out a project)
• Team player with strong communication skills
• Rigor and analytical skills
