Descriptif du poste

InstaDeep, founded in 2014, is a pioneering AI company at the forefront of innovation. With strategic offices in major cities worldwide, including London, Paris, Berlin, Tunis, Kigali, Cape Town, Boston, and San Francisco, InstaDeep collaborates with giants like Google DeepMind and prestigious educational institutions like MIT, Stanford, Oxford, UCL, and Imperial College London. We are a Google Cloud Partner and a select NVIDIA Elite Service Delivery Partner. We have been listed among notable players in AI, fast-growing companies, and Europe's 1000 fastest-growing companies in 2022 by Statista and the Financial Times. Our recent acquisition by BioNTech has further solidified our commitment to leading the industry.

Join us to be a part of the AI revolution!

In the BioAI department, we advance healthcare and medical science boundaries through a combination of biology and artificial intelligence expertise. We are expanding a portfolio of successful initiatives across drug discovery, design, and protein engineering. Notably, we are developing next-generation vaccines and biopharmaceuticals for cancer treatment and the prevention and therapy of infectious diseases. By joining us, you will contribute to this effort in collaboration with scientists, engineers, and biologists from both InstaDeep and BioNTech and have the opportunity to contribute to scientific papers submitted to leading conferences and journals.

We are pushing forward the state of the art in predicting and optimising RNA for multiple characteristics, including expression, half-life and ribosomal load in media and cells. In this position, you will be working closely with a cross-functional team of research engineers and computational biologists to build robust state-of-the-art deep learning signal processing models on in-house RNA stability data. This work will help scientists advance our understanding of RNA biology and develop personalised treatments that improve clinical outcomes and profoundly impact peoples’ lives.

The internship will be conducted in London and will last for three months, from May 1st to at least July 31st, 2025. Physical presence throughout the internship will be required. If desired, there is a possibility to extend the internship to 6 months in total.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Support the efforts of the RNA team, and the BioAI department generally, through the development of novel methods and applications of AI to biology.
  • Work in a cross functional team of research engineers, computer biologists, and scientists from dry and wet labs at InstaDeep and BioNTech.
  • Design, implement, and test deep learning methods, especially signal processing, for analysing mRNA constructs integrity.
  • Conduct rigorous data analysis and statistical testing to explain and improve models.
  • Report results clearly and efficiently, both internally and externally, verbally and in writing.
  • Write high-quality, maintainable, and modular code together with precise documentation.
  • Contribute to team research and publications.
  • Who you are:

  • Recent graduate or student of an M.Sc. / Ph.D. degree.
  • Excellent programming skills in Python.
  • Good knowledge of state-of-the-art deep learning algorithms and classical machine learning methods.
  • Experience using PyTorch.
  • Data science and statistics experience including data visualisations, data processing, statistical testing, etc.
  • Strong desire to work with biological applications.
  • Proficiency with good coding practices and version control (git).
  • Experience with docker and cloud infrastructures for storage and compute.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Appropriate work permit for the United Kingdom for the duration of the internship.
  • Beneficial - not essential

  • Knowledge of RNA science.
  • Knowledge of current research in deep learning applied to biology.
  • Research and software engineering experience demonstrated via previous work, contributions to open source, or coding competitions.
  • Familiarity with LLMs or Reinforcement learning.
  • Our commitment to our people

We empower individuals to celebrate their uniqueness here at InstaDeep. Our team comes from all walks of life, and we’re proud to continue encouraging and supporting applicants from underrepresented groups across the globe. Our commitment to creating an authentic environment comes from our ability to learn and grow from our diversity, and how better to experience this than by joining our team? We operate on a hybrid work model with guidance to work at the office 3 days per week to encourage close collaboration and innovation. We are continuing to review the situation with the well-being of InstaDeepers at the forefront of our minds.

Right to work: Please note that you will require the legal right to work in the location you are applying for.
