Descriptif du poste

A data scientist position is available within the laboratory of Dr Mickaël Ménager : Autoimmunity/inflammation Through RNAseq Analysis at the single Cell level for Therapeutic Innovation

Our lab is one of the main research team, involved in a big research hospital-university project (RHU), funded by the French national agency of research (ANR) and involving collaborations with national and international top-level scientists and clinicians from Imagine, Curie, Pasteur, CEA, INRA and industrial from Sanofi and Ariana Pharma. In this project, we are proposing to revisit rare monogenic disorders, characterized by autoimmunity and/or autoinflammation, at the single-cell level. By combining transcriptomic with proteomic, and epigenomic analyses performed on cells from the peripheral blood, in addition to lipidomic and metabolomic, we are aiming to identify so-called “pathological” cell clusters, mostly enriched of cells from patients as compared to controls. From such “pathological” cluster of cells, we intend to extract new molecular signatures, biomarkers that will help to redefine patients ‘stratification at the molecular level. We are now looking for a very talented and ambitious data scientist with biological knowledge/experience, who will embark with us, on this journey to redefine autoimmunity and autoinflammation at the molecular level, in collaboration with the Imagine data scientist platform and the Imagine bioinformatic hubs.

The Imagine Institute represents a unique setting in which to develop such collaborative project based on human disease related studies, with ample opportunity for collaborations with national and international top-level scientists and clinicians.

 Expectations of the current post

The data scientist will be expected to apply its computational/mathematical modeling skills to the use and development of machine learning algorithms/deep learning, in order to integrate altogether our multi-OMICs datasets and to infer in an unbiased way multi-OMICs networks specifically engaged upon autoinflammatory and autoimmune conditions.

Profil recherché

Qualifications

We are looking for a highly motivated data scientist (PhD/Engineer diploma or equivalent, with an expertise in both data science and integration of biological data) and with a proven track-record of independent working. The candidate must have first-class skills in inferential statistics (hypotheses testing), statistical modeling (linear models, mixed models, …), deep learning and a sound knowledge of statistical methods in general. Strong programming skills (python, R) are required, and a background in network inference and machine learning algorithms (SVM, random forest, graph neural networks, …) is preferred. Candidates who master Next-generation sequencing analyses at all levels, are strongly encouraged to apply. Knowledge of Immunology in general and autoinflammation in particular would be ideal.

Salary and length of contract

The contract will start as soon as possible for a period of 2 years and possibility of transition towards a permanent position (CDI) as Imagine employee.
