The internal title for this role: General Manager, Germany


In order to meet our global ambitions, we are looking for a well-connected General Manager to lead our business in Germany! Reporting directly to the COO and working closely with a team of regional subject-matter experts (Marketing, Admissions, Sales, Careers, etc.), the General Manager is responsible for growing the German business through the development of existing programs and the identification & activation of new growth levers.

You will be the driving force behind Le Wagon’s success in the German market, managing operations, strategic growth initiatives, legal / financial topics, certification and QM-systems and team leadership while aligning with the company’s global vision. Your mission is to scale the business, ensuring excellence in education delivery, creating high-impact partnerships, and expanding our footprint across Germany’s tech hubs.

Your Mission:

Manage the Regional Business

  • Provide the C-team with performance, financial, and legal reports, ensuring transparency and timeliness.

  • Manage regional finances, including monthly closures, forecasting, and budget planning, while keeping the COO/CFO informed of all relevant updates.

  • Ensure legal compliance across all operations, managing local contracts and HR-related obligations.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., AZAV) and continuously improve our Quality Management (QM) system.

  • Collaborate with the VP of People to manage payroll and drive HR-related initiatives and improvements.

Grow the German & German-speaking Business

  • Develop and execute business strategy for Germany, ensuring alignment with Le Wagon’s global vision while focusing on market-specific growth opportunities.

  • Identify and activate new growth levers (enterprise, government partnerships, and corporate training), with the support of the Regional Business Developer and global teams.

  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with key stakeholders such as corporations, public institutions, and funding partners to boost growth and visibility

  • Oversee the launch of new programs, ensuring the necessary certifications for public funding are in place.

  • Recruit and onboard key team members to meet growth demands and operational needs.

  • Ensure high-quality student experience and continuous satisfaction across all programs, monitoring KPIs and feedback.

Lead the Regional Team

  • Lead a cross-functional team of department experts (Marketing, Admissions, Careers, etc) and the operational team.

  • Set quarterly OKRs / annual KPIs and manage team performance through weekly updates, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.

  • Foster collaboration and share best practices across the regions to maximize efficiency and outcomes.

  • Oversee the hiring process for critical roles, from job posting to onboarding, ensuring a high-performing team that thrives in a fast-paced environment.

  • Conduct performance reviews, manage compensation packages, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and empowerment.

Your Success Metrics
The General Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring Le Wagon’s continued success and expansion in the German market. By scaling operations, optimizing processes, and establishing key partnerships, you will significantly increase Le Wagon’s market share and online student enrollment. Your leadership will drive measurable growth across all programs and formats, cementing Le Wagon’s position as a leading tech education provider in Germany.

You are a visionary leader with a proven track record in growing businesses, particularly within tech, education, or startup environments. You excel in managing cross-functional teams, developing strategies, and building impactful partnerships. Your passion for education, innovation, and technology is evident, and you are driven by the mission to empower people through digital skills.

You are not intimidated by certifications, quality management systems (QM), or audits. Instead, you view them as opportunities for growth, optimization, and improvement. You have the ability to implement and maintain compliance standards and see these systems as key components to scaling a high-performing organization.

Your skills include:

  • Proven experience in business strategy and growth in a dynamic market.

  • Exceptional leadership skills with experience in managing cross-functional teams.

  • Strong networking abilities, with a focus on developing high-value partnerships.

  • Experience in financial management, forecasting, and reporting.

  • Expertise in quality management systems (QM), certifications, and audit processes.

  • Fluency in German and English is essential.

  • Basic knowledge in HR-related topics.

  • A background in the EdTech, startup, or education sector is highly desirable.
