A Day in the Life

As a Project Manager within L’Oréal’s Operations, you will play a vital role in ensuring the sustainable and ethical sourcing of bio-based fragrance ingredients. You will collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to drive growth in our sustainable fragrance portfolio. Your work will directly contribute to L’Oréal’s commitment to crafting iconic, responsible fragrances.

  • Sustainable Sourcing & Due Diligence: Guarantee 100% of bio-based fragrance ingredients are sustainably sourced, traceable, and free from deforestation, human rights violations, and negative environmental impacts. Implement L’Oréal’s sustainable sourcing policies, incorporating human rights and environmental due diligence.
  • Ingredient Innovation: support integration of new, sustainably sourced ingredients into our fragrance portfolio, collaborating with internal teams (including Scent Science & Fragrance Design) and external partners.
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate effectively with suppliers, internal stakeholders, NGOs, and sustainability consultants to implement action plans for sourcing sustainable ingredients and driving positive change across our value chain.
  • Data Management & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of supply chains, origins, certifications, and risk assessments. Contribute to sustainability reporting, providing key performance indicators (KPIs) on human rights and environmental performance. Manage and contribute to the Raw Material-Cockpit.
  • Risk Management & Strategic Monitoring: Identify and mitigate environmental and human rights risks within fragrance supply chains. Stay informed about industry best practices, regulations, and emerging trends to ensure L’Oréal’s policies remain robust.
  • Project Management: Design, implement, and monitor sustainable sourcing projects, including conducting field visits, managing contracts, and ensuring compliance with sustainability targets. Contribute to the Fair Labor Association (FLA) coalition. Develop expert communication materials for internal and external audiences.
  • Digital Traceability: Participate in and contribute to the TRASCE digital traceability program for raw materials.
  • Support brands in their communication on fragrance ingredients

We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in engineering or science, ideally complemented by a Master’s degree in sustainable development, environmental policy, human rights, agronomy, or a related field. Proven experience in a direct sourcing role, particularly with bio-based ingredients, is essential. A minimum of three years’ experience in sustainable development, with a demonstrable focus on human rights and environmental due diligence, is required. This experience should include proven field experience in project design and monitoring.

The successful candidate will possess strong business acumen and a deep understanding of sustainability issues. Excellent analytical, synthesis, and communication skills (both written and verbal) are crucial, as is fluency in French and English. Proficiency with data tools is also essential.

Preferred qualifications include experience conducting human rights and environmental risk assessments and knowledge of fragrance ingredients. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work collaboratively, and a proactive, results-oriented approach to achieving ambitious targets.
