About the role

Our Data Engineer develops and maintains scalable data systems that enable real-time information for reporting, analytics, and actionable insights. This role focuses on building secure and efficient data infrastructure capable of managing high transaction volumes while collaborating with cross-functional teams to foster efficiency and elevate professionalism within the team.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Data Infrastructure Development: Design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines and ETL processes to handle large-scale structured and unstructured data.

• Data Quality Assurance: Implement validation and monitoring mechanisms to uphold data integrity, accuracy, and reliability.

• Performance Optimization: Analyse system performance, resolve bottlenecks, and address scaling challenges within the data infrastructure.

• Integration and Deployment: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deploy automation models efficiently and seamlessly into production environments.

• Technology Evaluation: Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and best practices, recommending and implementing tools and methodologies to enhance our processes.

• Guidance Role: Serve as a point of support within the team to assist data analysts in developing their skills through collaboration on assigned projects.

• Collaboration: Partner closely with back office teams to understand data requirements and deliver tailored technical solutions.

• Documentation and Standards: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for data pipelines, systems architecture, and processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

Job Experience

• At least 5 years of proven experience in data engineering, with expertise in building and managing data pipelines and infrastructure.

• 5+ years of experience in Python skills for ETL (pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, requests, plotly).

• Strong knowledge of relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases.

• Solid understanding of data modeling, schema design, and data warehousing concepts.

• Prior experience using Git.

• Bash, R, PHP, Javascript, some experience with SAP environment.

• API management is highly valued.

• Experience working with Azure and Talend is a plus.
