The purpose of the Senior Legal Counsel - Competition Law & Antitrust (CDD) shall be to design and roll out a global antitrust and competition law strategy.

Your Key missions:

Global advice and deployment of best practices

You shall provide and coordinate legal and strategic advice on competition laws and antitrust; redefine and ensure global implementation of the group best practices in order to fully support the business in the deployment of the Conviviality Platform with a best-in-class legal compliance approach.

Audits and trainings

You will perform on a regular basis legal audits of the HQ and its affiliates’ relevant departments and business units and redefine, design and provides appropriate trainings and remedial actions, as necessary, to HQ, affiliates and business units’ management and operations.

Group coordination vis-à-vis competition authorities

You shall promptly be made aware of any investigation, raid, request for information, market survey from any authority or similar government body addressed to Pernod Ricard HQ and act as the main point of contact vis à vis the authority. In the event that such investigations/actions are targeted toward any affiliates of the group, the Senior Legal Counsel shall closely coordinate and cooperate with the relevant senior member of the Group Legal Team and business people of such affiliates.

All these efforts shall ensure that any such investigations/actions from the authority are diligently solved in the best interest of the group and its business, in compliance with applicable laws and regulations and in consistency with the competition law compliance best practices mentioned above.

M&A antitrust practice

Finally, where needed on group m&a transactions (acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures and other strategic alliance) the Senior Legal Counsel shall lead in coordination with the HQ legal m&a team and with the support of external legal advisors all merger control clearance assessments and processes as well as all related interactions with competent antitrust authorities, including especially within the EU, the US, the UK and in Asia, on group m&a transactions, as well as pre and post-closing integration planning, relating to the such transactions – here again in consistency with the Group antitrust best practices.

You Key Responsibilities

You will, in coordination with the senior members of the Group Legal Team and their respective teams and with the support of external legal advisors, be responsible for:

  • Redefine, draft, design the group best practices in a playbook aiming at supporting the full deployment of the Conviviality Platform and the conduct of Group business in general – compliance with competition laws regulations,  
  • Define and implement a road map for the deployment of the group best practices throughout the group, notably through appropriate presential and virtual presentations and trainings to the Group legal community and business people,
  • When solicited by the group legal community or business people, provide and coordinate legal and strategic advice on any competition laws matters, including on strategic group contracts, partnerships and business initiative, with a view to maintaining consistency of the Group best practices,
  • Supervise, coordinate and internally lead eventual inquiries and/or investigations initiated by any competition authority in relation to HQ or any Group affiliate
  • In coordination with the senior members of the Group Legal Team, and if appropriate with the Internal Audit department, perform on a regular basis audits of the HQ and Group affiliates and business units in order to confirm that such entities properly implement the Group best practices and if needed lead and coordinate remediation measures,
  • From time to time, report to the EXCOM and ELT levels on the Group strategy and implementation of best practices,  
  • In coordination with Public Affairs teams at HQ and locally, actively participate in any French relevant forums, seminars, professional organizations that relate to strategic competition matters and practices and encourage members of the senior members of the Group Legal Team do the same in their jurisdiction in order to ensure that Pernod Ricard is globally represented and active in any such relevant forums, seminars, professional organizations,  
  • In coordination with the HQ legal m&a team and with the support of external legal advisors all merger control clearance assessments and processes as well as all related interactions with competent antitrust authorities, including especially within the EU, the US, the UK and in Asia, on group m&a transactions, as well as pre and post-closing integration planning and any other competition law matters, relating to the such transactions – here again in consistency with the Group antitrust best practices.

If you recognize yourself, don’t wait and apply!

  • You have at least 10 years of proven experience in competition laws and antitrust in a first-tier law firm and/or in a first-tier in-house environment.
  • You have professional expertise in compliance laws and antitrust
  • You have the capacity and credibility to engage with PR’s top management (EXCOM and ELT) to discuss all matters pertaining to competition laws and antitrust;
  • You have strong business acumen, knowledge of the industry practices
  • You are fluent in English. French and/or Spanish would be a plus.
  • You show interest in and knowledge of digitalization of legal processes would be well regarded.
