Reporting to the Chief Science Officer and Global Head, External Scientific Affairs (ESA), you are responsible for providing strategic, scientific and operational leadership of current and new global external partnerships while maintaining timelines and budget. You will have four units under your direction and management: the Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement Regional Heads for France, UK/EU/Asia Pac, Americas, and Advisory Boards/Project Management office.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ ACCOUNTABLITIES:
- Contribute to the development of the Global R&D external innovation roadmap by providing scientific guidance and direction based on knowledge of the different regional ecosystems vs Sanofi priorities.
- In collaboration with the internal customers (e.g., Global Project Heads, Vaccines R&D leadership), formulate the objectives and agenda for the advisory boards including the biennial Portfolio Advisory Board and ensure operational excellence in preparing for and conducting the events in compliance with sanofi policies and processes.
- Develop and execute strategies to increase the external visibility and image of Sanofi Vaccines and its portfolio priorities with the aim of establishing strong and promising partnerships; the mechanisms include but not limited to conference and organization sponsorships, professional network engagements, R&D Day events, among others
- Develop and execute strategies for scientific engagements with the regional ecosystems through public-private partnership models, including maintaining the current ones such as with Lyon Biopole, Institut Pasteur, and Vaccine Europe.
- Develop and execute strategies for the Sanofi Vaccine R&D community to keep pace with cutting-edge vaccine and immunology science through external stakeholder engagements and innovative forums
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders (R&D functions, mRNA Center of Excellence, Vaccine Portfolio Strategy, Vaccine Medical Affairs, Vaccine Public Affairs) to align the external engagement strategies with the needs and priorities of the organizations.
- Work collaboratively with other teams within the ESA organization to advance the mission of the ESA, including scouting for licensing/acquisitions, external funding, and vaccine innovation projects
- Collaborate with the Chief Scientific Officer to define and develop resource planning, budget, and annual deliverables and key performance indicators for the SNP team.
About you :
REQUIREMENTS:
- Ph.D. in any of the relevant fields – bacteriology, virology, immunology, infectious diseases, vaccines, or a related discipline or an M.D. or Pharm.D.
- Minimum 10 years post graduate work experience, minimum 5 years experience in Vaccines or Infectious Disease field
- Demonstrated interpersonal and negotiation skills - ability to work with individuals at different levels, to manage through influence
- Experience in public-private partnerships highly preferred
- Agent of change
- Fluent English communication skills, verbal and written; fluency in French a plus
- Ability to work in international settings
- Travel will be required
