Global Trade Policy team, within Corporate Public Affairs, is an essential partner in the successful execution of the company’s play-to-win strategies. Our mission is to foster pro-innovation health ecosystems for timely patient access to Sanofi’s innovation in key markets including China, by shaping IP/regulatory/market access policies as well as mitigating impact from geopolitical tensions and trade policies disrupting our global operations in research, development, and medicines’ supply.  

We are seeking a highly organized and skilled Public Affairs professional to join the Global Trade Policy Team. This role involves monitoring and mitigating US/global trade policies on Sanofi’s global operations and key markets, shaping Europe’s international competitiveness agenda, and maximizing our opportunities and impact in China/key markets.   

Main Responsibilities:

Mitigate Geopolitical Tensions and Impact of US Trade Policies

  • Monitor and analyze current US administration trade policies, including tariffs and the "America First Trade Policy" framework covering trade agreements, IP/ regulatory/market access policies, and policies impacting access to data/biotechnologies
  • Develop strategic policy analyses on implications for Sanofi, collaborating closely with US public affairs teams and subject matter experts from global functions
  • Partner with key market country PA teams to track local trade policy responses to US actions and support the development of effective mitigation strategies
  • Develop and maintain a unified global policy position to ensure consistent messaging and coordinated actions across functions, Business Units, and geographies

Drive Business Growth Through Strategic Government Engagements

  • Define agenda in coordination with BUs/Countries to develop annual plans and prioritize business objectives for foreign government engagements with Sanofi ExCom and global leaders at Sanofi France HQ
  • Design and execute comprehensive delegation visit programs including agenda creation, ExCom participation, external institution and stakeholder engagement, and Sanofi site visits aligned with business objectives
  • Ensure compliance with all visit protocols, LEBI guidance, and security requirements in partnership with security teams and manufacturing sites
  • Implement robust follow-up processes including detailed visit documentation, action item tracking, and bi-annual impact assessments with stakeholders to measure outcomes

Shape industry agenda in EFPIA International Board-Sponsored Committee (IBSC) to support Sanofi priorities

  • Track and analyze EU international policy developments relevant to Sanofi, focusing on: 
    • EU Economic Security Strategy (China as main target), Critical Medicines Act, IP/TRIPs/Pandemic Accord
    • EU trade toolbox and policies regarding the US, China, and other priority markets 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with corporate public policy teams and cross-function subject matter experts to align advocacy priorities and messaging
  • Create compelling briefing materials to support ExCom and senior leadership for high-level external engagements
  • Represent Sanofi in strategic trade association meetings and industry forums to influence industry alignment in line with Sanofi priorities

About you

  • Bachelor's degree in International Relations, Political Science, or a related field in healthcare; advanced degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in public affairs, government relations, diplomacy, or international business, preferred in pharmaceutical or healthcare industry
  • Strong writing skills (Policy brief, briefing document, social media/LinkedIn Posts)
  • Ability to analyze complex policy issues and translate them into actionable strategies
  • Diplomatic demeanor and professional presentation, with the ability to influence and manage copmlex stakeholder relationships and driving successful advocacy projects
  • Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities
  • Knowledge of international protocol and etiquette
  • Fluency in English and French, both oral and written
