Established in 1864, Société Générale is one of the largest French banks. Société Générale is a universal bank, offering its clients retail, corporate, investment banking products and services as well as private banking and asset management. Société Générale Swedish Branch provides corporate and investment banking solutions including mergers and acquisitions, capital markets asset financing, export financing, project financing, leverage financing, securitization, receivables and payables finance, payments and cash management, cash clearing and correspondent banking, trade finance.
The Coverage & Investment Banking division of Société Générale's Corporate & Investment Banking (SG CIB) is responsible for managing the business relationships with the wholesale clients of the group. The Corporate Coverage team manages the relationship to the largest corporate clients, in this case corporates across the Nordic region. The main product areas include Global Transaction and Payment Services, Investment Banking, Global Market Solutions and other Commercial Banking services via the Group's international network.
SG's Stockholm branch was established to serve all wholesale banking clients in the region from a local branch platform. Today we are some 30-35 staff at the Branch.
Mission:
The Trainee role is a fixed term 12-month contract with SG Stockholm Branch. It is important that you are available to work on full time basis.
In your role as a Coverage trainee, you will be part of a business and client-driven coverage organization and work closely with Senior Bankers, Relationship Managers and the various Sales teams covering Nordic Corporate Clients.
Tasks and responsibilities:
- Participate in the production of business cases to define and enable the bank's strategy towards key Nordic clients
- Prepare tailored presentations for clients to support relationship managers
- Perform profitability calculations in order to advise relationship managers on the impact new business have on the overall client relationship:
- Structure and price commercial loans (Term Loan, Revolving Credit Facility).
- Support the coverage team with the objective of expanding SG Stockholm's client franchise and grow revenues across business lines:
- Conduct internal reviews and follow up on client action plans, analyze business potential & cross-selling opportunities, as well as participate in meetings with business areas to identify opportunities and gaps.
- Act as a liaison between teams with different functions from different parts of the bank (e.g. Stockholm, London, Paris)
- Carry ad-hoc analysis on clients & prospects, as well as market/industry trends
- Together with the team develop the input to reports to internal stakeholders
Profile requiredStudies & experience: - Master degree level in a relevant field (Business School, University)
- Previous work experience is a plus but not a requirement
- Experience working with and analyzing financial data would be a valuable asset
Language skills: - Mandatory: Fluent in English and any Nordic language (verbal and written)
- Additional languages: French is a plus but not required
Technical, operational & Soft skills: - Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
- Interest in corporate and investment banking and to develop a career within banking or international finance
- Knowledge of the European financial environment (in terms of banking regulation, economic trends, markets) is appreciated.
