Founded by Cécile, CEO (Bain, Bpifrance) and Rémi, CSO (PhD Polytechnique), Sonio is now a formidable team of engineers, data scientists, UX designers, quality/regulatory manager, strategy/clinical validation, product development, marketing and international business development. The team is composed of 20+ people, all motivated by the mission at the heart of Sonio: to improve women’s and children’s health around the world.

Funded by top tier VCs - Elaia, BPI, Paris Biotech Santé, Deeptech Founders, WILCO Healthcare and NEXT French Healthcare, we are mentored and by some of the most important entrepreneurs in the field in France and the United States. We raised our pre-seed in Jan 2021 and seed round in June 2022.

Led by the CTO (ex AlephD/Yahoo, ex Apache Design and an ex co-founder), our current tech team is small (CTO + 2 full stack engineers + 1 senior frontend engineer + 1 data engineer), deeply impactful, highly productive and international. We are ambitious and committed to bringing modern technology and design to put great products in our customer’s hands.

We are looking for a well rounded Senior/Lead Engineer to join our team. You will report directly to the CTO and work closely with the others in the tech, product and data science teams to build our next products and shape our technical architecture and culture.

We are currently building our next generation of products that provide real-time assistance to practitioners during fetal ultrasound examinations. We build systems that interface with ultrasound machines (multi-platform edge software), stream imaging data to our cloud (real-time web tech), interpret data and images (using AI/ML) and push the results back to the practitioner’s interface (reactive web apps) - all in near real-time.

Engineers in the tech team currently:

• Write code in Elixir/Phoenix, Python/Flask, ReactJS and Go
• Deploy all apps/infrastructure on AWS with Terraform and Github Actions
• Enjoy flexibility and autonomy to figure out solutions on their own while feeling very accountable to each other
• Are very supportive and responsive, especially when teammates have new challenges
• Are naturally curious and open to exploring new ideas
• Work very closely with the product and science teams
• Have great product sense and put themselves in our customer’s shoes to craft the best experiences

Ideally, you are/have:

• Strong technical and programming background: engineering degree and/or solid experience (>5 years) building challenging and successful software products
• Good knowledge of fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, operating systems and concurrency
• Deep knowledge of web technologies and strong understanding of distributed system architecture
• Expertise in at least one of the following programming languages: Python/Ruby/Go/Javascript/Rust/Elixir/Java/C/C++ with the ability and desire to pick up others if needed. Experience with Elixir is a big plus
• Strong data modeling and relational database (SQL) skills. Big data or ML experience is a plus
• Well versed in web security, data privacy and data security concerns
• Familiar with devops, containerization, CI/CD pipelines, etc
• Very good communication and interpersonal skills. Fluency in English is required.
