Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Project Development Lead

Job Purpose :

Leads the development of one or several SAF commercial opportunities (Project co-development and/or Build-Own-Operate project) in Europe. This can start from engaging with a Client (for a BOO) or with industrial partners (Project co-development), MOU signatures, coordinating project finance, funding and feasibility studies, until formal contracts (BOO contracts, Feedstock supply contracts, partnership agreements, JV agreements, offtake contracts, land lease and operation permits) are signed or the Final Investment Decision is made by T.EN.

 

Job Accountabilities:

Project DevelopmentExpertise & Capabilities

  • Ensures a strict application of the Group’s procedures, guidelines and best practices for project development, including ethics and compliance, project financing and profitability, technology selection, feasibility studies, external party engagement
  • Develops and updates (with the right stakeholders) the required procedure(s) and guideline(s) to structure the SAF Project Development practices in T.EN
  • Supports the development of internal tools to mature T.EN’s project development practice
  • Respects the selectivity criteria for pursuing commercial opportunities
  • Prepares for the gate review presentations and defends his/her project/prospect in front of internal decision makers, with the support of the Head of SAF Business Development
  • Develops and leverages his/her professional network to feed T.EN’s SAF project pipeline and to help develop T.EN’s SAF projects (even beyond projects under his/her leadership)
  • Proactively identifies project execution and operation risks to mitigate them at early development stages

 

Engaging People, Partners & Leading Change

 

  • Proactively engages with all internal teams to develop projects, in a methodical, structured and risk-based approach
  • Similarly, proactively and continuously engages with all external stakeholders (including public administrations) to develop projects under his/her responsibility
  • Sources and shortlists partners and stakeholders to be part of his/her project, and submits them for approval
  • Understands the needs and best interests of partners and clients, and incorporates these inputs in his/her project development strategies
  • Embraces the uncertain nature of project development activities, actively drives each project lead, and demonstrates resilience when a project lead does not show the expected results
  • Ensures the continuous adhesion of internal and external stakeholders, through day-to-day communications and formal communications
  • Engages with and educates the European SAF ecosystem (Project developers, feedstock providers, offtakers, pre-selected workgroups and conferences, public players) on T.EN’s positioning around SAF as per the defined roadmap
  • Participates is creating new leads to build a derisked and profitable SAF project pipeline
  • When applicable, leads and manages the people participating in the SAF project development under his/her responsibility
  • Seeks feedback from all stakeholders, assesses the best industry practices and continuously improves T.EN’s Project development practice
  • Is willing to create an impactful change in T.EN’s business model around SAF, and on decarbonizing the energy and transport sectors

 

 

Driving results

 

  • Delivers measurable progress on the projects/prospects under his/her responsibility, with prepares deliverables such as Letters Of Intent, Memorandums Of Understanding, contracts, documents for internal gate reviews
  • Ensures the project development in line with the predefined performance indicators, related to time, budget, project risk profile and profitability, keeping in mind T.EN’s best interests and SAF strategy
  • Takes actions and coordinates all stakeholders to reach pre-defined objectives, developing step by step the project under his/her responsibility
  • Freely takes initiatives and challenges (constructively) the choices being made by any stakeholder, in order to timely achieve the best end result.
  • Defines the resources needed to reach the set objectives

 

Reporting lines and interactions:

Operationally reports to: Head of SAF Project Development

 

Profile:

• Master's degree in engineering, management or equivalent; an MBA can be a plus

• Strong experience in Commercial, Proposal or EPC execution

• Strong experience Project Development, and Project Development process

• Ability to lead a project development or a BOO prospect from its origination till contract signature with Clients, partners, feedstockers, offtakers

• Ability to lead a contract preparation and negotiation

      • Result-oriented, collaborative, autonomous, imaginative and able to navigate and influence complex environment

      • French and English speaker
