Soletanche Bachy Canada excels in geotechnical and foundation solutions, integrating sustainability through low-carbon materials, energy optimization, and waste reduction. As part of Soletanche Bachy and VINCI, we combine local expertise with global resources to tackle challenges.

 

To keep strengthening our commitment to sustainability, we are looking for an Environmental Coordinator VIE (F/M), based in Hamilton, Ontario, to support our projects across Canada and work closely with project teams to ensure environmental compliance.

What can you expect as an Environmental Coordinator @Soletanche Bachy Canada? 

 

In this position, you will drive our construction sites toward greater environmental responsibility through effective data management and practical sustainability initiatives. Your work will directly impact our company's environmental footprint while creating meaningful engagement with both our teams and the wider community.

 

Your key responsibilities will revolve around 4 mains topics:

 

1. Environmental Data Management

  • Support the implementation of our environmental data collection system with monthly reporting
  • Help establish clear processes for consistent data collection across construction sites
  • Provide guidance to site teams on proper data collection protocols
  • Assist with consolidating environmental data in PowerBI to generate useful insights
     

2. Sustainable Fuel Transition

  • Support our initiative to transition to HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) fuel across operations
  • Work with equipment managers on implementing fuel tracking systems
  • Contribute to awareness campaigns promoting sustainable fuel alternatives
  • Help monitor and report on environmental impact reductions from our fuel transition
     

3. Environmental Engagement & Initiatives

  • Coordinate community engagement projects like ocean conservation efforts or tree planting
  • Help organize environmental awareness events for internal and external stakeholders
  • Participate in team-building activities centered around environmental causes
     

4. Cross-Border Collaboration

  • Serve as a liaison between Canadian and U.S. Hub foundation teams during quarterly reporting periods
  • Share best practices between operations to ensure consistency in reporting standards
  • Contribute to aligning environmental initiatives across North American operations
  • Support harmonization of data collection methodologies between countries


As such, occasional travel to U.S. locations may be required. While specific travel plans have not yet been finalized, candidates should be prepared for potential short-term assignments.

According to our hiring manager, you’ll be a great fit if: 

  • You are an engineering school or university graduate, with a degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. This way, you’ll have a first academic and theoretical knowledge of our environmental stakes.
  • To help you take on your first missions and feel at ease with the assignments, you understand the basis of environmental reporting and standards.
  • To succeed in data analysis, visualization, and storage, a proficiency in tools like Power BI, SharePoint, and Excel and an experience with programming or a programming mindset is highly valued.
  • The task is not an easy one, you’re not coming on “captured ground”, as there is still a lot to do. As such, a tenacious can-do attitude will help you overcome challenges. At the end of the day, the final objective is so important for you that no hardship will discourage you.
  • You define yourself as a creative thinker who approaches environmental challenges with innovative solutions.
  • Our teams are tights, and you’ll need all the support you can get to get your points across: thanks to your curiosity and your sociability, you’ll quickly adapt and be integrated.
  • Your everyday life will be in English: as such, you need to feel confident enough about your English level, in terms of writing but also speaking.
  • You have your driving license to help you navigate between the different sites and projects you’ll be supporting.

 

Quick Reminder about the VIE program: 

The VIE program requires you to: 

  • Be a European citizen aged between 18 and 28 on the date of registration, whatever training level.  
  • Be a graduate student, with a fluent level in English.  
  • Have never done any V.I.E. in the past. 
  • Not have worked previously in the host country.
