Job Description:
A great opportunity as a Solution Innovator PhD CIFRE in Generative Artificial Intelligence (m/f) has arisen in Airbus Commercial Aircraft in Blagnac.
The Air Transport industry needs to accelerate its digital transformation, and Airbus Customer Services aims to establish a comprehensive Digital Services offer that can enhance the predictability and resilience of Airline Operations. This offer will build on the success of Skywise, and aims to leverage innovative and exciting emerging technologies.
In Customer Support Airbus Innovation teams and in collaboration with LABRI (Bordeaux laboratory in AI), a position for a CIFRE PhD has been open to work on the methodology to accurate the information provided by a LLM (Large Language Model). Airbus expects to use this kind of technology to help all the ecosystems around the aircraft to improve the reliability and the safety of our Aircraft in operation.

This opportunity is a fixed term contract (3 years) in the context of a “dispositif CIFRE” with the LABRI as laboratory of “école doctorale”. The “doctorant” will worked:
. In the premise of Airbus in Toulouse to develop the industrial product
. In the premise of the LABRI in Bordeaux for all the theoretical studies to validate the final proposition

Organized in innovation squads, our organization applies an adapted Design Thinking methodology for innovation (the Innovation Framework), reinforced and structured around key gates & deliverables and uses Investment Committees to incrementally invest in the most promising projects from the internal maturation of the Idea to the validation of the Desirability, Viability and Feasibility Hypothesis through the development of prototypes exposed to customers.
A squad is composed at least, with a Value Architect, a Solution Innovator, and a Strategic Designer.
Value Architects ensure new services deliver measurable customer value and service viability, Solution Innovators ensure operational & technical service feasibility, and Strategic Designers ensure service desirability meaning the whole service design lifecycle from Strategy to UI delivery.
As doctorant, you will be part of one or several squads to help introduce the Gen AI technology if necessary as part of the solution in a final product .
Solutions Innovators possesses a broad base of skills and knowledge spanning digital technology, strategy and business planning, engineering and agile/lean development practices. They must possess an entrepreneurial drive to define and develop new solutions, by identifying technologies and technology partners most suitable to develop innovations while managing end users' needs.
The Solution Innovator is responsible for the feasibility: Operational, Technical, Schedule, Economic and legal and Sustainability.
He/her will:
Work with Strategic Design and Early Adopters (customers) to
gain an understanding of user personas, pain points and journeys
gather and manage solution feedback through surveys, concept testing, analytics tools, and A/B testing
Interact with the Early Adopters (customers) for technical questions
Partner with Value Architecture and Digital Marketing, elaborate insights into product, technology, market trends and provide the cost structure and values
Monitor and report on solution KPIs
Develop technical prototype and de risk technology bricks needed for solution development
Define the feasibility team setup including governance and processes
Perform Tech Watching to "monitor existing technologies to learn how it is used" and Tech Scouting to "be aware of emerging technologies and new trends".
Deliverables:
Identification of the right technologies to solve the problem and design the future solution, including Architecture dossier, with the support of architects, data governance and security
To contribute to the Value Architect's business case, estimate the global roadmap and budget of the future technical solution (including resources needed for the development of the Prototype)
Technical Prototype along with captured validated learning on the three axis (Viability, Feasibility, Desirability)

You should be able to demonstrate the following skills:
An accredited knowledge in a Artificial Intelligence to be able to candidate to a PhD
Digital Technology watch: Awareness and ability to identify, learn and use new technologies to answer to customer needs
Hands-on skills to quickly prototype solutions and present feasibility analysis

Data Sensitivity & IP Management: Work closely with data governance to define and maintain the principles of data governance such as GDPR and Export control. Actively identify and define measures to protect IP in front of the customers and partners
AWS (Amazon Web Service) and/or Google Cloud technical skills would be a "plus"
Negotiation level in English
