BYREDO is founded by Ben Gorham in Stockholm.
A native Swede, Ben Gorham grew up in Toronto, New York, and Stockholm. He graduated from Stockholm’s Institute of Art with a degree in Fine Arts, but a chance meeting with perfumer Pierre Wulff convinced him that he’d rather create fragrances than paintings. With no formal training in the field, Gorham sought out the services of world-renowned perfumers Olivia Giacobetti and Jerôme Epinette.
Born from memories and a desire to trigger emotions, BYREDO fragrances such as Bal d’Afrique and Gypsy Water have gained cult followings around the world. BYREDO has pivoted into category extensions in Makeup, Leather goods, and Accessories. As an outsider in the beauty industry, Ben is somewhat of an anomaly and has been recognized for his unique portrayal of beauty and connection to fashion and art.

At BYREDO, we come as we are, with the intention to learn from each other, and go beyond just our business objectives.
Our products embody the power of self-expression and enable our clients to craft their own definition of beauty, in the same manner we wish for our teams to express their own individuality at work.
We thrive to sustain an inclusive and diverse workplace by ensuring our teams are both knowledgeable, and held accountable on I&D, so that all employees can feel free, encouraged, and empowered in displaying their talents.
We are honored to describe ourselves as an inclusive group of committed and creative minds, proud to disrupt the industry, while simultaneously engaging and empowering communities.
At BYREDO, we refer to I&D rather than D&I, as for us diversity should be a given, so we therefore focus on inclusion, beginning with our teams. We also strive to support inclusion of the communities we are creating ties with, in particular the inclusion of women and youth, through our different campaigns and actions.
Environmental sustainability is of course, a key topic for us, while much has been done already, we remain aware that there is still so much more to do, and we are ready to take on this challenge. We are continuing to grow and learn in this area, thanks to the expertise and guidance from our parent company, PUIG, the family-owned Fashion and Beauty Group based in Barcelona and an industry leader in sustainability.
At BYREDO we are proud to be implementing many I&D initiatives to empower, educate, and engage our teams.
In 2022, we introduced our Inclusive Management learning program, supporting all of our Managers in understanding the challenges of managing a diverse team, and the vital role managers play in creating an inclusive work environment.
In 2023, all Byredo employees had the opportunity to attend an I&D workshop on a specific theme, among which inclusive recruitment, ethnicity in the workplace, gender equality in the workplace, and micro aggressions.
All Byredo employees benefit as well from trainings delivered by Puig group, including on sustainability topics.
