Role
As an intern illustrator at Cartoonbase, you will be expected to:
Participate in brainstorming sessions with the creative team to come up with strong concepts for each project
Combine a concept and a script into a storyboard
Transform sketches into final illustrations, that includes inking and colouring
Prepare the files for the animators (naming and sorting layers, format adaptations, cutting…)
Occasionally, a hand in all the other things there is to do in a fast growing company
Also, you may help us with graphic design projects which would imply :
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite software, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
Knowledge of design principles such as color theory, typography, and layout design
Experience with digital and print design
Ability to use design software to create a variety of graphic design materials, such as logos, brochures, social media graphics, and website designs
Place within the organisation
Reports to the Producer and the Creative Director, works very closely with the project managers and the creative team.
Required qualities
Multi-style illustrator
Good knowledge of Photoshop and illustrator, after effects and procreate are assets
Comfortable with drawing in front of an audience
Animation skills are an asset
Comfortable with multitasking
Detail oriented
Strong interpersonal skills, good team member, good listener, working well with peers, good sense of integration and adaptation
Speaking French or English fluently. Dutch is an asset
Measurements
Quality of the projects in collaboration with the Creative Director and the creative teams
Respect of the deadlines
Organisation (files, archiving, punctuality)
Team contribution
The recruitment process is structured in three successive rounds:
Round 1 : first step, the hiring team will review the candidates’ portfolios to assess their skills and experience
Round 2 : a 30 minutes conversation with the Producer or Creative Director to review your resume and motivations. The meeting will also give the candidate an opportunity to ask questions about Cartoonbase and to learn more about the role and the team.
