Job Title: Head of Project Cargo - Greater China (OOG/Project Cargo/Breakbulk)

Geographic coverage: Greater China/ASPAC

Reporting line: ASPAC CEO

Working closely with GMs, BMs, Operations Managers, HO and sister company counterpart

Head of Project Cargo for Greater China will lead and manage the prospecting, hunting, retention, and operations related to out-of-gauge (OOG), project cargo, and breakbulk logistics. This role focuses on planning, coordinating, and executing specialized logistics projects while ensuring compliance with regulations, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction. The manager will act as a key point of contact for clients, suppliers, and internal teams, ensuring seamless execution of complex supply chain solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations & Execution

  • Manage all aspects of OOG, project cargo, and breakbulk shipments, including route planning, equipment selection, and carrier negotiations.

  • Oversee the end-to-end shipment lifecycle, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.

  • Prepare/support in talking to suppliers to review risk assessments for complex cargo movements, including lifting plans, transport feasibility studies, and engineering calculations.

  • Collaborate with carriers, ports, and service providers to ensure efficient handling of OOG and project cargo.

Customer & Client Management

  • Serve as the primary contact for clients/agents/Sister companies, providing detailed project updates and resolving any logistical challenges.

  • Develop tailored logistics solutions based on customer requirements and cargo specifications.

  • Conduct regular client/Agents/Sister companies reviews to ensure satisfaction and build long-term partnerships.

Team Leadership & Training

The position is a sole contributor role supported by operations department and sales, with main targets:

  • Train internal teams on OOG, breakbulk, and project cargo best practices or create a team by recruiting experts on OOG, breakbulk, and project cargo

  • Lead a team of coordinators, supervisors, and field operatives, ensuring skill development and motivation.

Business Development

  • Identify LOCAL growth opportunities in OOG/project cargo markets and assist the sales team with customer acquisition strategies.

  • Identify ROUTED growth opportunities in OOG/project cargo among the sister companies and support them in acquiring the business

  • Participate in tenders and provide competitive quotes, ensuring alignment with operational capabilities.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure all project cargo movements comply with local and international regulations.

  • Oversee preparation and verification of shipping documents, including permits, customs clearances, and bills of lading.


Profil recherché

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or above.

  • 10 / 15+ years of relevant BB/OOG experience in international freight forwarding companies, with 5 years in management position with P&L responsibilities, with successful sales track record.

  • Well versed with local market knowledge, and familiar with industry best practices, SOP and etc.
