Join a collaborative European newsroom
As part of our pioneering English-language team, you’ll join a truly European newsroom designed for collaboration. The English-speaking team, writing for a purely European audience focused on EU policies (two journalists), will work closely with our French-speaking team writing for the France edition (also two journalists) to cover EU energy policies. For your colleagues, you’ll collect information and share insights, sources, and ideas to ensure comprehensive, high-quality coverage tailored to your respective audiences.
Your team will also include a translation editor to adapt content across languages and a dedicated manager to provide guidance and support. Beyond your immediate colleagues, you’ll be part of a larger team, joining our established 17-person Brussels newsroom, where you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with reporters specializing in other areas of EU policy.
Our mission is to understand the technical factors influencing political decisions and to reveal how power is wielded and public policies are developed within the European Union.
In this role, you’ll play a key part in uncovering and delivering the critical insights our readers rely on:
Break news, secure scoops, and analyze leaks: You’ll develop trusted sources across various levels of power—from official corridors to less visible networks—to gather exclusive information, leaked documents, and untold stories.
Deliver valuable insights: Keep readers informed with timely updates and in-depth analyses that cut through the noise, combining speed with substance.
Contribute to our daily newsletter : Provide concise and accurate on-the-ground reporting and track key developments in EU energy policy.
Create impactful content: Write compelling articles and collaborate with our team to design striking infographics that convey complex topics clearly and effectively.
Engage in live discussions: Participate in Contexte Live sessions, our 45-minute video debriefs where you’ll discuss major issues alongside fellow journalists and expert guest speakers.
The position is based in Brussels, where you’ll report to the Managing editor overseeing EU Energy policy news coverage.
Scoop diggers driven to uncover exclusives and gather information you won’t find anywhere else.
Passionate storytellers with a sharp eye for uncovering the political stakes in technical and policy-heavy topics—and vice versa.
Experts in navigating the “Brussels bubble,” with a deep understanding of EU institutions and policymaking.
Writers who can deliver sharp, insightful analyses tailored for EU energy policy professionals, offering them actionable intelligence and unique perspectives.
Team players excited to help establish a new product in a competitive media landscape.
Fluency in English, with impeccable written skills (C2 level or equivalent).
Proficiency in French (B2 level or higher) is a plus. It can be helpful during the launch phase of this new product, as the broader team is originally French-speaking. That said, French is not a requirement—your ability to thrive in an international, collaborative environment is what truly matters.
