We are hiring a Legal Lead to play a pivotal role in providing comprehensive legal counsel to senior management and the DU EMEA organisation. This position is responsible for overseeing legal processes and managing relationships with member firms and external legal parties. Key areas of focus include corporate law, cross-border working formalities, GDPR compliance, and the legal aspects and management of procurement.

Role description

The Legal Lead:

Legal and Compliance Oversight

  • Ensures adherence to French laws, regulations, statutes, and Deloitte Policy Manuals throughout the organisation.
  • Effectively manages the legal affairs of the organisation, ensuring that stakeholders are informed and receive appropriate legal advice and guidance.
  • Works closely with legal representatives from member firms and external legal advisors to ensure coordinated legal support.
  • Continuously monitors compliance with legal requirements, providing regular updates and reports to the Dean, COO, and Senior Management Team as required.

Procurement and Litigation Management

  • Is responsible for DU EMEA procurement, ensuring supplier contracts are in compliance with French procurement regulations and the DU EMEA team adheres to Deloitte procurement policies. 
  • Oversees the drafting and vetting of contracts related to external suppliers, including licences, non-disclosure agreements, intellectual property rights, and tender documents.
  • Manages arbitration cases and civil proceedings before various courts.
  • Handles litigation and dispute resolution in accordance with French law.

Regulatory Compliance and Legal Operations

  • Ensures adherence to the entity's articles, oversees the timely and accurate execution of the year-end process, including organizing legally required meetings and filing necessary statements with the commercial court.
  • Collaborates with the Finance Lead and DU EMEA legal advisors throughout the year-end process and for any changes to the articles of the entity.
  • Assists with the legal aspects of risk management.
  • Oversees applicable regulations related to cross-border work and, in consultation with experts, ensures compliance.
  • Safeguards GDPR compliance throughout Deloitte University EMEA.

Skills & Experience

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience for a Senior Consultant and 6 years of experience for a Manager in a legal-related role.
  • Experience with the French legal system, particularly in procurement law and company law.
  • Experience in implementing internal legal policies and procedures while ensuring compliance with external regulatory requirements.
  • Experience or knowledge of procurement processes.
  • Experience or knowledge of EU and French GDPR/personal data legislation.
  • Cross-border/International work experience is an advantage.

Education & Languages

  • Bachelor’s degree in law or a related field; professional French law accreditation is an advantage.
  • Fluency in English and French is required; additional languages are an advantage.

  • Location: Flexible – Remote or any Deloitte office location, ideally in France or Belgium, with some required travel to Deloitte University EMEA Paris facility in Bailly-Romainvilliers.
