To support our growth, we are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our multidisciplinary R&D team. In this role, you will contribute to the development of advanced tracking solutions for robotic-assisted knee arthroplasty (TKA) designed to make a real difference in patient care.
As a member of the Hardware team, you will be involved in the full development cycle — from concept design to functional prototypes — with a strong focus on reliability, manufacturability, and compliance. You’ll work closely with our systems, software, electronics, and clinical teams in a collaborative, agile environment while working on a meaningful medical product integrating very latest advances in collaborative robotics.
What you’ll be doing
Mechanical Design & Development
Detailed CAD Solidworks and technical drawings following iso
Choice of proper materials and surface treatments to ensure long-term device performances and durability (metallic, plastic, composite).
Choice of the appropriate production process while considering design for manufacturing and design to costs
Rigorous and documented rationales and calculation notes to justify dimensioning of the elements (bearings, screws, structural integrity)
Knowing and applying design guidelines for modularity and standardization to simplify assembly steps
Collaborate with electrical engineers to integrate electronic and electrical systems, including cabling
Participate in design thinking workshops and ideation
Provide rigorous technical specifications: 3D, 2D, Work instructions, bill of material
Assembly and tests
Mounting of the prototypes and benches with our hardware technician in the fablab. Some tools or parts will need to be prototyped/3D printed. Suggest improvements and provide feedback on mounting steps to better the design.
Apply and enrich V&V assembly rules
Conduct integration tests to ensure functionality and performance before release.
Conduct maintenance to maximize time of use of the set-ups and permit all the tests to be run. Enrich defect follow-ups and diagnosis to better the designs
Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including software[BB1] [FB2] , electronics, quality assurance and regulatory affairs, to understand what could go wrong and propose enhancements.
Oversee the transition from design to manufacturing, ensuring that prototypes meet design specifications and regulatory requirements.
Participate in design reviews, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and risk management activities.
Technical skills
Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Previous experience or strong interest in mechanical design, prototyping, and testing, ideally in a regulated environment
Proficient in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD or equivalent)
Expérienced in 3D printing and rapid prototyping techniques
Soft skills
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot mechanical and reliability issues
Comfortable working in cross-functional teams
Proficient in English, written & oral
Proactive, constructive, and open to feedback
What we offer
A meaningful project in the medical field where to can take responsibilities and develop your skills
The opportunity to take ownership and contribute to shaping the product early on
A dynamic, collaborative startup environment that allow you to understand the whole development process of a medical robotics solutions, as well as its market challenges.
A wide variety of topics and interfaces, from concept to testing
