About H55 

As the technological spin-off of Solar Impulse, the first electric airplane to fly around the world, the mission of H55, is to make aviation clean, safe, and affordable.

The company’s strengths and competencies lie in developing propulsion and energy storage solutions which are modular, lightweight, and certifiable.

Having integrated and flown 4 electric airplanes, the Swiss start-up has been selected by Pratt & Whitney Canada to provide the battery pack for its regional hybrid-electric flight demonstrator. This recent announcement is a further illustration of H55’s position as a major enabler in the electric commuter market.

About the role

In the frame of its product development (Electric Propulsion System and Modular Battery Pack), H55 is searching for a Battery Modeling Engineer for its office in Switzerland.

You will be responsible for:

  • Develop and validate battery simulation models (electrical, ageing, thermal).
  • Analyze battery performance data and contribute to model refinement.
  • Contribute on defining test cases and test programs that validate the simulation results.
  • Work with MATLAB, Simulink, Python or other modelling tools.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on battery design and optimization.
  • Requirement capture and formal validation of electrical-related aspects of HV batteries
  • Review test procedures and test reports related to electrical tests of batteries.
  • Participate in maintaining company Standards and Processes.

Your Profile
  • Bachelor's/Master degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. PhD on battery topics is a plus. 
  • Experience with Battery / HV Simulation, or comparable applications.
  • Expertise on modeling and simulation Tools (e.g. StarCCM+, Ansys, Amesim, MATLAB Simscape)
  • Experience in designing electrical HV battery solutions
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Fluent English, French is a plus, but not mandatory 
Nice to have:
  • Proficiency in requirements management tools (e.g. DOORS or Windchill RV&S)
  • Knowledge of aviation standards and recommended practices (ARP-4754, ARP-4761, DO-160, DO-311)
