Descriptif du poste

The Geosciences Centre brings together the School's Earth Sciences activities, particularly in hydrogeology, geochemistry and geomechanics. It has around thirty permanent teaching and research staff, around twenty technical and administrative staff, and around thirty non-permanent scientific staff. The Centre focuses on three areas linked to the ecological and energy transitions: the responsible exploitation of underground resources, the use of underground space, and the availability of water under anthropogenic and climatic forcing. It develops services for industry, particularly through integrated software used in industrial and environmental applications.

Reporting to the School's Director of Research, the Centre Director supervises research and teaching activities, defines the scientific policy and ensures consistency with the School's objectives. He or she is responsible for the budget and must guarantee sufficient resources, particularly through research partnerships. The Director is encouraged to pursue his or her own research and teaching activities in conjunction with the Centre's teams.

The Director leads scientific activities, drives forward scientific strategy, encourages academic excellence and facilitates the integration of young researchers. He or she coordinates the Centre's evaluations, ensures the resources required for teaching, and helps to define teaching programs. As a manager, he or she leads internal bodies, sets out the School's roadmap and objectives, and oversees the quality of working life.

The Director is also responsible for balancing the Centre's budget, monitoring it regularly, helping to identify funding opportunities, advising on partnership strategies, and supporting responses to calls for projects.
