About the team

The Reinsurance team is managing and optimizing reinsurance strategies to mitigate risk and enhance financial stability. The Reinsurance team plays a crucial role in securing partnerships to protect Wakam against large-scale financial exposures.

 Missions

Function Overview:

The Reinsurance Lead has the following responsibilities:

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the day to day management of the Outwards Reinsurance program including provision of data, premium payments, claim notifications and recoveries.
  • Act as a principle point of contact for Reinsurance Brokers and Reinsurers.
  • Proactively identify and propose actions to improve reinsurance conditions and effectiveness of reinsurance strategy for the company.
  • Engage with all relevant departments, group & third parties as required to assess the company’s reinsurance requirements.
  • Lead activities for renewal, negotiations of reinsurance conditions; review addendums and endorsements for in force treaties.
  • Support assessment of new reinsurance treaties (review treaties, covers and slip notes; review and assess terms and conditions; profitability; risk mitigation; compliance with regulations).
  • Manage operational issues and all account queries, including special risk and acceptances.
  • Maintain inventory of reinsurance treaty and reinsurance conditions. Responsibility for the collation of all placing information.
  • Responsibility for updating and maintenance of the Outwards Reinsurance Policy.
  • Projects - lead and / or join projects for the improvement of current procedures, covers and business development.
  • Participate to and present all the relevant committees. Monitor and report on ratings of reinsurers reporting to Risk Committees and Board.
  • Assist in the identification of potential risks (credit, market, operational) related to reinsurance activities and support risk management frameworks.
  • Manage and maintain robust relationships across the group, representing Reinsurance Operations on internal working groups or committees.

 Profile

  • Demonstratable knowledge if Outwards Reinsurance.
  • Strong experience of technical reinsurance operations, including reinsurance systems, procedures and regulatory reporting requirements at a UK insurance company.
  • Relevant experience of Reinsurance operations or similar Experience in developing and strengthening departments, to include enhanced policies & procedures, and reporting.
  • Requirement to travel on occasion, depending on business requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of cross border pan European insurance markets desirable.
  • Excellent MS Office skills, in particular excel.
  • Detail-oriented and have the ability to multitask.
  • Team player with good interpersonal skills.
  • Able to analyse data and provide concise summary and / or recommendations.
  • Able to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including senior management teams, both internally and externally.
  • Innovative and creative with willingness to bring new ideas to improve processes.
  • Ability to establish credibility.
  • Strong knowledge of the regulations and compliance standards within the insurance industry.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with clients, employees, and management.
