Join our Public Affairs Team as Public Affairs Geographical Lead​ and you can help make it happen. Your job? In view of the intended separation of the Consumer HealthCare (CHC) business of Sanofi, the Public Affairs function will be a critical contributor to the success of this standalone business, leading and nurturing stakeholder engagement and management, protecting and building the reputation of the New Company, bringing the outside in, and working as a high-performing, global, stakeholder-focused, networked team. The Public Affairs Team operates as a Community of Practice, with Country Public Affairs Leads that report into the country GM, but functionally are strongly aligned with the Global Public Affairs team to ensure consistency, alignment, and One Voice to the external world.

Main responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive government relations strategies tailored to the French political context to advance the organization's objectives.

  • Identify key policy priorities related to investment, economic development, and labor relations, and develop advocacy plans to shape policy outcomes.

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key political stakeholders, including government officials, parliamentarians, ministerial offices, key administrations and political parties (as needed), to advocate for the organization's interests.

  • Monitor political developments, legislative initiatives, and electoral dynamics in France to anticipate potential impacts on the organization to feed and inform business priorities, anticipate and manage risk, and leverage growth opportunities.

  • Advocate for policies that support investment, innovation, and economic growth in France, collaborating with government agencies, industry associations, and other stakeholders.

  • Engage with policymakers to shape investment regulations, tax incentives, and other policies that affect the organization's operations and investment decisions.

  • Execute strategies to ensure the successful market entry and reimbursement of CHC products, with strong understanding of the healthcare landscape, regulatory requirements, and pricing strategies.   

  • Engage with healthcare authorities, payers, and key stakeholders to secure favourable access and pricing conditions.

  • Conduct health economics and outcomes research to support value propositions.

  • Monitor and analyse market trends, policy changes, and competitor activities.

  • Proactively engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, including industry/trade associations, business chambers, civil society organizations, and academic institutions, to build coalitions and support advocacy efforts.

  • Represent the organization in meetings, forums, and industry events to promote dialogue and collaboration on issues related to investment policy and labor relations.

  • Lead Key engagement to develop Opella brand awareness for key French institutions

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards governing government affairs activities, including transparency and disclosure requirements.

  • Uphold ethical principles and integrity in all interactions with government officials, stakeholders, and labor representatives.

  • Direct management of a focused team of highliy qualified professionals.

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, law, business administration, or related field; advanced degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in government affairs, public policy, or related roles, in particular in France and expertise in public affairs, government relations, market access, investment & trade policy.

  • Deep understanding of the French political system, legislative process, and regulatory environment, with a proven track record of navigating political dynamics and influencing policy outcomes.

  • Strong network of relationships with key political stakeholders, government officials, business leaders, labor unions, and industry associations in France.

  • Demonstrated experience in advocating for investment-friendly policies, engaging with trade associations and relevant key industry organizations, and managing stakeholder relationships in a complex political environment.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build consensus and foster collaboration among diverse stakeholders.

  • Strong experience in a highly regulated industry (Healthcare is a plus)

  • Solid experience managing issues and crises, working collaboratively and cross-functionally with global functions.

  • Fluency in French and English; additional languages are a plus

  • Self-care starter, proactive, collaborative, decisive

  • Commitment to ethical standards, integrity, and professionalism in government affairs activities.
