The Team :
The Business Automation team implements and maintains intelligent automation solutions that streamline business and corporate support processes, enhance data-driven decision making, and enable Pigment's fast and sustained growth. As part of these activities, it owns the building and operation of Pigment’s data platform, which is an integrated ecosystem of tools and processes designed to collect, store, transform, and analyze data in a scalable, secure, and cost-efficient manner, once again in support of Pigment’s business functions.
The aim of the Business Automation team is to empower corporate functions through technology integration and process optimization, and enable teams to focus on high-value activities while ensuring accuracy and scalability.
You’ll have the opportunity of working in an agile, result-driven team, with a variety of topics and stakeholders within Pigment. The team sits alongside the IT team and the Security team, within the broader R&D department, and under the leadership of Pigment’s deputy CISO.
The Role :
As a Senior data engineering , you will be in charge of defining and enforcing a governance framework for Pigment’s data platform, and play a crucial role in designing, building, and managing the infrastructure and systems that collect, store, and process data. You shall work closely with stakeholders within the business and corporate functions, as well as data analysts to implement efficient data pipelines, improve the quality and reliability of our data, and support the execution of our analytics projects.
Our core stack relies on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), with components relying on BigQuery, Cloud Run, Cloud Composer (Airflow), as well as dbt, Fivetran, HighTouch. You must be comfortable working with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
Key Responsibilities :
- Data Integration & Transformation:
Work hands in hands with the rest of the team as well as various stakeholders at Pigment, to implement efficient data pipelines, integrating data from a wide variety of sources, including APIs, external databases, and third-party services
Transform raw data into clean and ready-to-use models
- Data Quality and Data Hygiene:
Develop and enforce data hygiene standards and processes for the data platform ecosystem, to ensure data reliability across analytics and business support tools
Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for data processes, architectures, and workflows
- Scalability, Reliability, and Security:
Design scalable data architectures capable of handling increasing data volumes and complexity
Implement robust backup and recovery strategies, in line with Pigment’s technical stack and standards, and taking account Pigment’s DRP processes for pipelines supporting critical processes
Implement data security measures to protect sensitive information and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and/or contracts
- Alerting and Monitoring:
Set up automated alerts for data pipeline failures, data quality issues, and performance bottlenecks
Implement monitoring tools to track data pipeline health and performance metrics
Proactively address issues before they impact data availability and quality
- Collaboration & Support:
Foster collaboration with data consumer teams (notably GTM functions & Product) to unlock synergies on cross-functional projects
Provide technical support and guidance on best data usage practices within the organization
Qualifications :
- 3+ years of proven experience as a Data Engineer, preferably in a scale up company
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, and translate their stakes and constraints in actionable solutions
- Demonstrated ability to work in autonomy, find support when and where needed, and fully own data infrastructure projects from scoping to execution
- Strong coding skills in both Python and SQL
- Experienced with dbt and at least one public Cloud infrastructure provider (ideally GCP)
- Knowledge of scalable data architecture design and implementation
- Curious and eager to learn about various technologies, but also enterprise processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of French is a strong plus
