We are looking for our first DevOps Engineer, someone ready to take full ownership of our infrastructure and DevOps strategy in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. This role is critical in enabling Upway to scale globally, ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of our systems while working closely with the tech team to implement cutting-edge solutions.
As the pioneer DevOps Engineer at Upway, you will face exciting challenges, take on a high level of responsibility, and have the opportunity to shape our infrastructure and DevOps practices from the ground up.
Your responsibilities will include:
Setting up and maintaining Datadog to monitor the performance of all services.
Designing and implementing monitoring systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
Establishing uptime checks to guarantee continuous service availability.
Implementing synthetic tests to simulate user behavior and proactively identify issues.
Leading the migration of Metabase to ensure an optimized analytics environment.
Setting up and managing a staging environment, laying the groundwork for a scalable and efficient development process.
Adding class and DTO validators to maintain high standards for code quality and consistency.
Streamlining error management practices to improve system reliability and debugging processes.
Maintaining and enhancing the integration with Shopify, a critical component of our business.
Taking ownership of permission management to ensure robust access control.
Protecting our applications by identifying and addressing vulnerabilities, fostering a security-first culture.
We’re looking for someone who:

Has hands-on experience with monitoring tools (Datadog is a plus) and knows how to optimize performance at scale.
Is skilled in testing frameworks, particularly for uptime and synthetic checks.
Has experience building and managing scalable infrastructure (e.g., staging environments).
Has a strong understanding of code quality practices, including validation and error handling.
Understands the importance of security in building and maintaining robust applications.
