The Opportunity 

Monk is at the forefront of Computer Vision and Deep Learning, delivering advanced AI technology that detects and classifies vehicle damage with precision, using just smartphone photos in both web and native applications. Our partnerships with industry leaders, including our parent company ACV Auctions (USA), CAT Logistics (Europe), Getaround (France), Autobiz (Europe), and Hgreg (Canada), reflect our commitment to excellence. As we continue to build a world class, API-based damage detection system, we are looking for a skilled and motivated Technical Lead to drive innovation on our Front-End team. 

In this role, you’ll lead and mentor a small team of developers (2-4), guiding project delivery while contributing directly to product development. 

The Mission 

Responsibilities 

  • Manage and support the growth of a small team of developers (~2-4) through project leadership and career development. 

  • Collaborate with client developers and technical leads to understand requirements and evaluate feasibility. 

  • Partner with the Product team to plan quarterly goals, define scopes, and allocate team resources. 

  • Help the Product team refine and scope tickets to optimize development efficiency. 

  • Apply Agile principles to organize team ceremonies, manage the ticket board, and prioritize backlog items.

  • Front-End Technical Lead 1 

  • Break down technical requirements and specify tickets for effective team execution. 

  • Architect advanced Front-End solutions for new business needs. 

  • Maintain and enhance Monk’s open-source React and React-Native SDK on NPM. 

  • Develop web applications for internal and external users, creating proof-of concept applications to test new features. 

  • Conduct code reviews, debug, and resolve issues. 

  • Stay updated with the latest in front-end development to ensure cutting-edge solutions. 

    Tech Stack 

  • Architecture: NodeJs monorepo setup with Lerna, leveraging microservices. Languages: TypeScript, JavaScript 

  • Frameworks: React, React Native 

  • Tools: Jira, GitHub 

  • Methodology: Agile 

  • Infrastructure: GCP, Kubernetes, NodeJs, CircleCI


Profil recherché

  • Proficiency in English, as all work and communication will be conducted in English. 

  • Ability to balance scalability, maintainability, and time-to-market in solutions.

  • Front-End Technical Lead 2 

    • Skilled in leading distributed teams across multiple time zones. 

    • Solid understanding of NodeJs, JavaScript, TypeScript, and the underlying workings of the React ecosystem. 

    • Experience with unit and integration testing. 

    • Ability to write clear, client-facing documentation. 

      Desired Background 

      • Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field. 

      • At least 5 years of professional experience. 

      • Passion for startup environments; autonomous and proactive wor style. Experience with Agile methodologies
