Soil Capital is a mission-driven company with expertise in regenerative agriculture and the low-carbon transition of agricultural systems. Active internationally, Soil Capital’s ambition is to support farmers in the transition of one million hectares to more profitable and regenerative agriculture by 2025.

We have developed Europe’s first carbon remuneration scheme for farmers, called Soil Capital Carbon. This enables farmers to measure and certify their carbon footprint each year, while at the same time valuing the reduction in their carbon emissions and/or the increase in soil carbon storage on the carbon markets. Agricultural and food companies are using Soil Capital Carbon as a transition tool, to engage their farmers in a low-carbon approach and build new value opportunities through the development of certified low-carbon agricultural value chains.

Soil Capital Carbon is supported by mySoilCapital, an online platform for farmers and partners that collects, processes and delivers data so farmers can put low-carbon regenerative agriculture into practice.

In this context, you will help us to increase the agronomic and economic potential of farms to achieve healthy food, living soil, clean air and abundant biodiversity. You will supervise a team of independent encoders, ensuring the smooth operation of data collection and processing needed to provide a personalized carbon diagnostic using our decision support platform. Our territory is divided in 3 zones.

You will not only be responsible for one of the zones, but you will also lead the Area Management team composed of two junior profiles who will oversee the other two zones.

Roles & responsibilities

In this role, the successful candidate will work on our decision support and carbon payment platform called mySoilCapital, taking responsibility for the entire process from farm data collection to report delivery and farmer feedback; via the supervision of a team of freelance encoders and area managers.

More specifically, the team supervised by the project manager will have the following responsibilities:

• Correct and accurate encoding of the farmer’s data (providing support to the farmer and conducting virtual interviews with the farmer to finalise data collection).

• Review of the encoded data, generation and revision of the mySoilCapital diagnostic.

• Delivery of the mySoilCapital report to the farmer, accompanied by a discussion with the farmer on the potential levers that can be put in place to improve practices.

• Compliance with the audit timetable and constraints in terms of providing carbon results and their quality.

• Participating in the development of the mySoilCapital tool by gathering feedback from farmers and communicating it internally.

• Management of the area managers team

Skills, qualifications and attitude

• An excellent understanding of the French and/or Belgian agricultural sector and a willingness to learn more about it.

• Proven ability to model complex systems, with an eye for detail.

• Positive personality, with the ability to interact easily with others (friendliness in interactions).

• Critical, problem-solving, results-oriented, perfectionist.

• Excellent communication skills in French (mother tongue) and English (fluent).

• Highly motivated and curious about the environmental and social impact of Soil Capital’s core mission.
